CASology Week 340: AFRICA and Twofer Challenge #15

Welcome to Week 340 at CASology!

I was so excited to see our cue word this week and immediately knew the beaded giraffe my daughter brought me from South Africa was going to be a further source of inspiration. I pulled out my Poppystamps Giraffe Trio dies and brightly colored beads and let them sit on my desk while working out a few design ideas.

It was the MFT Stitched Arch die that really brought the design together. An arch window is cut from a panel, the Concord & 9th sentiment added and the panel popped up on a card base with foam adhesive.

The giraffe dies are cut several times from white card stock and five tucked into the window. A thin line of Glossy Accents is run along the inside edge of the arch and the string of beads tucked into place.

Once the Glossy Accents is dry, the beads are firmly adhered and the ends of the microfilament beading thread can be snipped and tucked under the bottom edge of the window.

Since the Twofer Card Challenge #15 is Zoo Animals, I decided to make another card using one of the giraffe dies.

A giraffe is cut from bright pink felt and then from the PTI From the Heart die. An MFT Beautiful Baby sentiment is added to the heart before the felt giraffe is inset and popped up on the heart embossed panel.

The design is finished with a twine bow and scatter of pale pink and clear sequins.

The two cards together!

The CASology design team has fabulous cards this week!

  5. These are sensational, Jacquie! I love that you saw the connection between the CASology cue word and Twofer and I hope the rest of your Team sees it, too! I have to say first of all that I am in love with that gorgeous beaded giraffe! You are a genius to look at it and draw your inspiration from it in the way that you did! I think how you made that beaded arch is just magical and I love how you kept your tucked giraffes white and added a simple sediment at the base. Equally, I love every sweet element of your new baby card! That soft quilt-y blanket background of hearts is perfect and I love how you inlaid the giraffe in the heart and the pretty font on that sentiment. Beautifully composed and executed! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #15! Hugs, Darnell

  6. Fabulous cards Jacquie!! LOVE how you took your inspiration from the beaded giraffe. Your all white giraffes look awesome in the semi-circle die-cut . Those beads add so much colour, shine, and texture. Jewelry on a card ... LOVE IT. And how adorable is your baby card with the pink felt giraffe. Two amazing designs! Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge!

The beading around the giraffe herd is awesome ... such delicious tiny pops of jewel like colour and shine with all that crisp white ... what a stunner! 10. I'm completely in love with these two cards and, frankly, with everything on your blog. You have great style! The beaded giraffe cannot help but be inspiring, it's so beautiful, and inspired you were! Those beads are a wonderfully colorful way to frame up your plethora of giraffes which, by the way, I looked up because I love them so much on your card. Equally fun is the big heart with the plush felt giraffe and soft twine for your baby card. The embossed heart background is perfect, and then you have all those pretty sequins for a touch of magic. I'm smitten! Thank you so much for thinking of our Twofer challenge and sharing in the gallery!
