Freshly Made Sketches #390

Clean Team designer, Judy Rozema, has given us a fun sketch to work with this week! I love the banner/flag elements!

I've been trying to work a few more masculine designs into my card stash and love that this Poppystamps Birthday Blowout sentiment could be used for a birthday, graduation or general congratulations card.

A piece of nautical washi tape covered white cardstock is cut to create the smaller banner and an anchor embossed scrap used for the larger banner. These are layered and wrapped around the stitched main panel before the sentiment embossed heart is added.

The navy anchor embossed panel is adhered on the left side of the card base before the white panel is popped up over it.

I'm linking this card to Poppystamps Challenge #56 Wishi Washi.

CAS(E) This Sketch #323

I'm spending a little of our gray and drizzly Memorial Day weekend organizing a few things in the office and one thing led to another, resulting in a card inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch #323.

The Avery Elle Brushed sentiment is clear embossed on a watercolor panel before the it is colored with three shades of green Zig Real Brush markers.

The sentiment section was cut with an MFT Stitched Hexagon Stax die first and then the Poppystamps Mod Hex die was used to cut the smaller hexagons.

To add interest and dimension, the sentiment piece is layered three times, the next two larger pieces twice and the smallest hexagons are just a single layer each.

Freshly Made Sketches #389

Clean Team designer Narelle Farrugia has given us a lovely sketch this week. A large Memory Box Pavilia provides the circle element in my design.

The background is cut from a slightly lighter pink cardstock than the outline die, with some of the dark pink petals left in place for texture and interest. A pink gem is added to the center before the flower is popped up on the panel and a pair of leaves added.

The MFT Greetings & Salutations sentiment is heated embossed before being added along with a scatter of raindrops.

I hope you get a chance to check out all the wonderful Clean Team cards at Freshly Made Sketches and play along with us this week!

CASology Week 344: SUMMER

Welcome to Week 344 at CASology!

We are having a cool, rainy spring here in southern California, leaving me looking forward to warmer summer days and beach time. What does summer mean to you?

The Stamp Market Skinny Upper Alpha dies spelling out the word BEACH on the kraft panel make me think of brightly colored beach towels on the sand. A little coarse glitter is added for interest and texture.

The design team has terrific cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #388

Our fun sketch this week is from Clean Team Designer Karren Johnson! I really wanted to use a circle stamp in my design so pulled out PTI Sketched Shapes and played around with a few different colors before deciding on the New Leaf and Limeade Ice greens.

The inspiration to place the Poppystamps Boddington Tree border die cut in front of the sketchy circles came from this cool card by Jen Wills.  A simple birthday sentiment from MFT Sweet Succulents is heat embossed on the green panel before it is adhered to the white woodgrain embossed panel. The tree rectangle is popped up above the sentiment to finish off the card.

I'm linking this card to Seize the Birthday#165 in the Anything Goes category.

CASology Week 343: COLOR

Welcome to Week 343 at CASology!

I think this is pretty much an Anything Goes challenge with everything from rainbows to a favorite pop of color showing up in the gallery this week!

I pulled out an older MFT stamp set, Clearly Sentimental About Art, and their Color Drop Stax dies to create this super quick and easy card. The green drop is adhered directly onto the panel and the others attached with different height foam adhesives for added interest.

The design team has fun cards this week!

My Favorite Things Weekly Sketch Challenge MFTWSC436 Anniversary Card

This is one of those years when we don't have big plans for our anniversary, but I can't let the day go by without making a card. I knew I wanted to use one of the chef's from My Favorite Things Recipe for Happiness stamps and dies and had a design idea as soon as I saw the sketch for MFTWSC436.

The chef is stamped, colored and die cut before being adhered to the red brick embossed panel cut from a Jumbo Stitched Fishtail Flag die.

The sentiment is stamped on the white stitched panel before the brick embossed panels are added to frame it.

The chef's toe is adhered directly to the panel and foam dots are used under the head to give him a bit of dimension.

It's 24 years for us and I'm hoping for at least 24 more!

Freshly Made Sketches Week #387

A few different thoughts whirled through my head when I first saw this lovely sketch from Clean Team member, Cécile Ribon. I initially saw the trio of panels as a striped window awning but while searching through my stamps and dies, I completely changed directions after Avery Elle Bunting stamps and dies landed on my desk.

The party lanterns became my trio element and they are hung from a Memory Box Woodland Branch die that is trimmed in two pieces. Three layers of parts of the branch are adhered together to provide more stability and allow the lanterns to hang naturally.

CASology Week 342: MOTHER

Welcome to Week 342 at CASology!

I'm sure I am not the only one who thought of Mother's Day with our cue word this week! The cue also works great for a new mom or a birthday card.

I die cut part of the One Big Happy sentiment and heat embossed the rest on a small sentiment strip. The small yellow flowers were stamped before the sentiment and sequins were added.

The design team had great cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #386

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this great sketch designed by Jennifer Brum. As often happens, once an idea has taken hold, I find it hard to shake so melded the circular element with the angled panel to create a large speech bubble.

To make the speech bubble lines closer to the lines of the sketch, the MFT Speech Bubble border is cut across a white panel first and then angled just along the right edge to make a second partial cut. The Lawn Fawn Chit Chat greetings are stamped on the speech bubble before it is embossed with dots. I wanted the dots to be subtle on this panel, so ran the finished panel through the die cut machine to press them down a bit.

The Concord & 9th Say Hello sentiment is heat embossed on the aqua panel before it is also embossed and the card assembled.

I am linking this card to Seize the Birthday #164 Texture.
