Freshly Made Sketches #492

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #492!

Cécile Ribon is the Queen of creating graceful, elegant designs and this talent shows in her sketch this week! I went searching for a die that replicated the gentle curve of the flower and found what I was looking for in a Memory Box Bamboo Shoots die I had cut while on a long ago crafting date with a friend.

The die cut was bigger than I wanted for this design, so a few careful snips freed the right section and left me with a great piece to use another day. The MFT Greetings and Salutations sentiment is stamped first and then the Darice Thin Lines embossing folder used to add a bit of texture and interest.

I hope you check out the amazing Clean Team designs and play along with us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

Freshly Made Sketches #491

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #491!

I've had this Simon Says Stamp Sending Smiles die on my desk for a while, waiting for the perfect sketch to come along, so was thrilled to see this panel based design created by Kim Singdahlsen this week.

In a nod to the first week of summer, I dug into the bin of 6x6 paper pads and pulled three pieces from the 2012 American Crafts Shoreline collection and the yellow sunshine from the 2013 Carta Bella Beach Boardwalk collection. My favorite MFT Horizontal Stitched Strip die is used to cut the paper into the panels, which are adhered to a slightly smaller panel and popped up on the card base.

Freshly Made Sketches #490

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #490!

Jennifer Brum is the creative genius behind a fabulous sketch this week. I had so many ideas and everything from butterflies and designer papers to stencils and shaped dies cluttering my desk before  deciding the long vertical panel would be represented by a Memory Box Small Alder die cut.

The decision to woodgrain emboss the base panel was easy, but then I got stuck with what to use for the circle element. Walking away for a while helped because by the time I was back in the office, I was pulling out a heart die, felt and a little floss.  A simple MFT Greetings and Salutations sentiment finishes this clean and simple design.

Freshly Made Sketches #489

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #489!

My card came together so quickly this week as Linda's fun scatter of circles in this sketch had me digging for the Memory Box Small Ringlets die. I saw the circles as air bubbles and was thinking about an underwater scene. Next step was to pull out the Avery Elle That Bites and decide which one of these fun fish was going to be used.

A rectangle stencil was layered with a Memory Box Texture Wave stencil and inked with a couple shades of blue Distress Inks to add a bit of dimension and movement to the water. The MFT All About Dad sentiment is split between the air bubbles and bottom right corner to make a Father's Day card.

The Clean Team designers have great cards to check out at Freshly Made Sketches this week - we hope you play along!

CASology Challenge #392

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #392!

I was drawn immediately to this sentiment from the Ranger Dylusions  Clearly the Right Words stamp set as I looked through any stamps or dies that included "strength" or "strong" for a card this week.

My original plan was to mask braver, stronger, smarter and loved so I could stamp them in different colors. It became obvious this wasn't going to work with the outline box and tiny spaces, so Plan B was to stamp and heat emboss the whole sentiment and swipe color on after using Zig Real Brush Markers.

Freshly Made Sketches #488

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #488!

I used Jen Mitchell's fabulous sketch to make a clean and simple Father's Day card. Part of a Memory Box Fresh Pine Landscape die is cut to fit the MFT Mod Rectangle panel and popped up over a woodgrain embossed panel.

An MFT All About Dad sentiment is stamped with PTI Pinefeather ink to match the Pinefeather cardstock and trimmed before being adhered to the bottom corner of the small panel.

CASology Challenge #391

Welcome to CASology Challenge #391!

I have a card for the mid-challenge reminder post for the PHOTO challenge at CASology. This really is a wide open challenge that includes everything from using a photo type frame or film strip or creating a photo worthy scene or commemorating a photo worthy event.

I can't resist an opportunity to use these sweet MFT Cute Cameras dies, so went with what you use to take a photo.

Three of the cameras are cut twice for this super CAS design, with the bodies adding a fun pop of color and the details highlighted in black. A simple Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards sentiment is stamped before the dies adhered and the completed panel is popped up on the card base.

The design team has terrific cards to inspire you!
