CASology Week 293: CROSS

Welcome to Week 293 at CASology!

I love a cue word that is both a noun and a verb giving you so many directions to go this week. I decided to pull out my PTI Lovely Layers dies to create a floral image with a cross shape.

For added interest, a green vellum die cut of the small petals is offset and layered under the white card stock and vellum layers. Using white for the top and bottom layers reinforces the cross design. A Pretty Pink Posh jewel adds a bit of bling to the center of the flower.

The design team has beautiful cards this week!

FMS #329 + CTD #485 + Simon Says Floral Frenzy

I have another quick share tonight as the deadline is rapidly approaching for Freshly Made Sketches #329.  I took my cue from Jennifer Timko and created this quick card using the same Taylored Expression Mandala Cutting Plate she used on her design team card.

A white panel is inked with an ombre of Abandoned Coral Distress Ink, moving from an intense, concentrated color in the center to a light touch of color at the outside edges. The white die cut is adhered to the inked panel and then to a matching card base.

A Wink of Stella adds a bit of glitter to the center circle and Pretty Pink Posh jewels add more to the outer design. The MFT Essential Sentiment is heat embossed on a black sentiment strip to finish off the card.

My color palette came from Color Throwdown #485 and I'm also linking this card to the Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp where Simon Says Floral Frenzy this week.

Papertrey Ink March 2018 Blog Hop

After seeing the pretty spring flowers in the inspiration photo for the Papertrey Ink March 2018 Blog Hop, I realize I seriously need a tulip image for my stamp collection.

Looking through my options, Birds & Blooms wreath made it to my desk as it allowed me to use a trio of colors for the flowers. A Birthday Mini sentiment is stamped directly onto the the embossed panel before the die cut wreath was added.

The bright pink bow is tied from a rustic twine in a nod to the rustic bowl holding the flowers.

I'm also linking this card to Seize the Birthday in their Anything Goes category and and to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Simon Says Floral Frenzy this week.

CASology Week 292: FOIL

Welcome to Week 292 at CASology!

I pulled out my Stampin' Up Nailed It stamps & dies thinking I would get ahead of my Father's Day cards when I realized I didn't have a card for my handyman husband's birthday. What would be better than a tool bouquet!

The images were stamped and heat embossed with Black Soot Distress Embossing powder on both the red card stock and metallic card stock and then pieced together before being layered. A PTI Tiny Tag is stamped with an Avery Elle sentiment before being tied around the trio of tools creating a masculine bouquet. The Soft Stone wood embossed panel adds a little more interest while preserving white space.

The design team have a terrific collection of cards to inspire you!

CAS(E) This Sketch! #263 Guest Designer!

I'm thrilled to be guest designing along with the Chrissy Larson and her super talented design team at CAS(E) This Sketch! this week!

My circle is inked with Salty Ocean Distress Ink before the Wplus9 sailboat die cut is adhered with foam dots.

A line of ocean waves washi tape is added to both the card base and the angled panel, with the sentiment stamped onto the tape with Archival Ink.

I hope you are inspired to play along with CTS #263 this week!

CASology Week 291: BUG

Welcome to Week 291 at CASology!

I know I'm not the only one who immediately thinks of the iconic Volkswagen Beetle when I see the word BUG. I pulled out an older Taylored Expressions Wheely Great stamp set to make this card.

The MFT Mod Rectangle panel fit the retro vibe of my bug and is popped up over a horizontal striped  panel for added interest.

The design team has really outdone themselves this week!

Muse #256

I seem to be squeezing my cards in at the last minute for the Muse challenge these days, even when I know almost immediately what I want to create after seeing the new challenge on Monday morning.

Anita Bowden gave us this beautiful anniversary card for Muse #256.

I was inspired by everything: the color palette, vellum sentiment banner, gems, floral flourish and heart elements.

I'd come home from a crafting retreat last weekend with a few extra die cuts, including this floral heart shaped bit of loveliness. A heart shaped mask was placed on the scalloped square panel to guide my inking, keeping more saturated color in the center and fading out to the edges and then the die cut was adhered directly onto this panel.

A few small flowers are added onto the panel and were perfect for holding my Avery Elle sentiment banner in place.

The centers of these extra flowers are highlighted with Pretty Pink Posh jewels.

CTS #261 + Simon Says Girl Power

Last weekend was one of my favorites of the year with four days spent at the top of Palomar Mountain with seven of my craftiest friends. Part of the fun is getting to play with each others' stamps and dies, working on bigger projects and leaving a mess out all weekend.

This card came together with borrowed Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies using CAS(E) This Sketch! #261 for design inspiration.

I love that the sentiment fit in the framed hexagon and that the tilted large hexagon lines up perfectly with the angles on the hexagon border.

White paint splatters were added to the card base first, and then again once the border and sentiment panel were added. A scatter of sequins finish the card off.

This card is also being linked to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where Simon Says Girl Power this week.

CASology Week 290: ABSTRACT

Welcome to Week 290 at CASology!

I predict an interesting mix of abstract concepts and abstract art ideas in the gallery this week. I immediately thought of abstract color field paintings like those of Mark Rothko when I first saw the cue word this week.

Playing around with an acrylic stamping block, swipes of Distress Oxide Inks and spritzes of water gave me this trio of colors on a watercolor paper panel.

A simple MFT sentiment was stamped under the color block and the panel was popped up on a Berry Sorbet card base.

The design team has a great mix of cards to inspire you this week!

FMS #326 + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says Anything Goes

I have a card to share today that was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #326, along with the Seize the Birthday and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which are both Anything Goes this week.

The Impression Obsession Happy Background stamp is selectively inked with Memento Nautical Blue ink and stamped on a white panel leaving room for three layers of the PTI Birthday die cut.

This sentiment panel is popped up over a polka dot embossed panel adhered to the indigo blue card base.

Muse #255 + Simon Says Anything Goes

I have card to share for Muse #255 where I was inspired by the embossed black background, colors and flowers on guest designer Bonnie's card.

The Pretty Pink Posh Wild Roses were stamped and masked and a sentiment from Encouraging Greetings added, before the panel was inked with a number of green Distress Oxide Inks. Copics were used to color the roses with Lemon Drop Jewels added to the centers.

The yellow scalloped frame was added before the oval was popped up on a black embossed panel and then added to the card base.
