Freshly Made Sketches #373

We have a great sketch from Kim this week! I used it to make another Valentine, with a PTI layered heart taking the place of the vertical panel. The Penned Elegance II sentiment is heat embossed on the pink heart and it is layered on a scalloped vellum heart.

Before adding the heart to the white panel a Lawn Fawn heart border is selectively inked in three shades of pink to add the diagonal line element. After the color is added Versamark ink and Ranger holographic embossing powder is used to add shimmer and glitter to these hearts. A little Wink of Stella is also swiped over the scalloped edge of the sentiment heart.

I'm looking forward to see how you use the diagonal lines on the sketch!

CASology Week 329: TURN

Welcome to Week 329 at CASology!

I'm envisioning a gallery full of dancers, cars, ferris wheels and other things that TURN this week. With my dad's upcoming milestone on my mind, I created a card celebrating his 90th birthday.

I love the movement the Memory Box Starlit Breeze border die adds to a card and used it to draw the eye up to the gold shimmer star backed indigo blue "90". A Paper Smooches sentiment follows the curved line and reinforces the movement. The star embossed panel is adhered to an indigo card base and the other panel popped up over it.

The design team has fabulous cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #372

Linda Callahan has given us this great sketch to work with for challenge #372! Sometimes it takes a while for a design to come together, but this week I immediately saw the thin vertical panel as a tree and couldn't let go of the idea.

A portion of the soft gray panel is masked and inked with Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks before the Altenew sentiment is added. The Memory Box Small Alder Tree die is added after the panel was popped up on the card base.

I like to keep a few sympathy cards in my stash as I find them harder to make on demand. I'm hoping this one won't need to be used too soon.

Check out the Clean Team cards for great interpretations of this sketch and join in on the fun!

CASology Week 328: SMILE

Welcome to Week 328 at CASology!

I decided to let the word SMILE take center stage on my card, die cutting it out of a white panel and popping it up over a piece of watercolor paper colored with Zig Real Brush markers.

The finished layers are then adhered to a green card base.

The design team has terrific cards this week!

CTS 305 + Memory Box Challenge #45 + SSS Clean & Simple

I have a card to share based on CAS(E) This Sketch #305, Memory Box Challenge #45 Love is in the Air and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to make a Clean and Simple card.

Monthlythemebadge

I was originally planning to keep the vertical orientation of the design, but wanted the majority of the Memory Box Heart Wave die facing the right way.

Rotating the sketch also allowed me to use the PTI XO Skinny Mini stamps and tag for the sentiment,

Freshly Made Sketches #371

Our terrific sketch comes from Jen Mitchell this week. With a few Caprice Heart Layers sitting on my desk after I borrowed the die set from my crafting friend,  Joyce,  I knew I would use a heart on my card, but remember you can use any shape you want.
.

My heart is sitting on a MFT mini-scallop framed, embossed heart panel and layered with a PTI heart border die. The heat embossed sentiments are from the PTI With All My Heart stamp set.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Jen's design inspires you!

This card is also being linked to the Loving challenge at Time Out.

CASology Week 327: CLOUDY

Welcome to Week 327 at CASology!

I love when a cue word has several meanings and really hope some of you work with an idea I didn't think about until after making my card, which is to use vellum or another translucent material.

This super simple Get Well card has a sun peaking through a pair of Memory Box Puffy Cloud die cuts on a blue sky background.

The simple sentiment is another from my favourite MFT Essential Sentiments stamp set.

The design team has terrific cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #370

How are you going to interpret the delightful snowflakes on this fabulous sketch from Jennifer Timko? I went with circles and pulled out a few stamps and dies before deciding to cut apart a Memory Box Large Ringlets die cut.

The panel is inked with Salty Ocean Distress Ink before the PTI Penned Elegance II sentiment is stamped with Memento Nautical Blue ink.

Blue enamel dots and white Nuvo drops at a bit of interest and fun to finish off this card.

The challenge closes on Monday, January 14th at 3:00 PM EST.  I hope you will find time to play along with us this week!

CASology Week 326: FROZEN

Welcome to Week 326 at CASology!

Even our usually warm spot in San Diego has been freezing overnight this week and some parts of the county had a white Christmas! I didn't intend to make a Christmas card this week, but couldn't resist the Lawn Fawn Simply Celebrate Winter snowmen given our FROZEN cue word.

Copic markers are used to color the noses, scarves and earmuffs and add the lightest touch of blue sky between the snowmen.

The design team has a great mix of cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #369

If you follow Freshly Made Sketches, you've already seen the announcement that I am joining the Clean Team for the next six months! This news means my 2019 is off to a fabulous start and I'm thrilled to be sharing my first card based on Amy O'Neill's terrific sketch!

Each week a member of the team creates a sketch to inspire you, with the twist to keep the design clean-lined and fresh. All the rules, design team cards and the link-up to play along can be found on the Freshly Made Sketches blog.

The Memory Box Massa Leaf die cut covers the visual space of the circle in Amy's design and is layered between the banners.

The banners are created by layering lemon washi tape on a scrap of white cardstock and heat embossing a MFT Essential Sentiments birthday greeting on a scrap of yellow cardstock.

The challenge closes on Monday, January 7th at 3:00 PM EST.  I hope you will find time to play along with us this week!

CASology Week 325: FRESH

Welcome to Week 325 at CASology!

I let the idea of a new year and FRESH start guide my card this week. A friend with serious running goals inspired the use of the PTI She Moves silhouettes which are paired with a selectively masked Hero Arts Merry sentiment.

The Delicata gold inked Wplus9 stars add interest and texture. It's always hard to capture their glistening sparkle in a photo.

The design team has great ideas!
