Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge 220

I am just squeaking in under the wire to submit a card for Merry Monday #220 where the theme is decorating your door for the holidays.

I always decorate the door with fresh greenery and jingle bells and created a card to reflect this.

A Mama Elephant Jingle Greetings sentiment is stamped on a white panel that is then embossed with a woodgrain embossing folder.

A trio of greenery die cuts are adhered together and topped off with a single jingle bell and a Baker's twine bow.

CTS #150 + Merry Monday #181 + Simon Says Anything Goes & MCV #30 + 25DOCT Day 24

While my husband and a visiting friend braved the Black Friday shopping, I stayed in and made a few cards and tags. I have a couple to share today.

This card  is based on the CAS(E) This Sketch! challenge #150 and Merry Monday challenge #181 to use Blue, White and texture on a card.  The texture comes from the embossed part of the sentiment, the double layered die cut sentiment, layered snowflakes and glitter paper.  I'm also linking this card to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Anything Goes this week.

This tag is based on the inspiration at the Muse Christmas Visions #30 and Day 24 of Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags (oops. I missed the cut off for Tracey's challenge, but you can still use the link to check out all the great tags entered over the last 25 days). I was specifically inspired by Aryth's modern tree tag.

OOC Holiday Style Day 7 + Merry Monday #180

I have a quick card to share tonight based on some ideas from the Online Card Classes: Holiday Style Day 7 tutorials.

I die cut the Savvy Stamps Deer Head die from silver Kraft-Core Metallic paper, black cardstock and black fun foam and adhered the layers together. The dot from an "i" alphabet die provided the perfect glitter paper nose. The SSS Christmas sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in silver.

Super quick and clean and simple! I am linking this card up to the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge #180: Use a Reindeer.

Merry Monday #153: Angels + Virginia's View #14 & MIM #208: Ombre Stamping + Seize the Birthday

I almost walked away from the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #153: Angels or Cherubs because I don't have any angel stamps, but then I realized I could easily papercraft an angel and this is the result.

I cut a 4"x 3.5" panel of Christmas designer paper and scored every 1/4" to create a fan fold dress. A pearl is slipped on a Maya Road crystal pin and the pin is adhered to the center fold of the dress. The top of the fan is pinched together with a bit of wet glue between each fold and a piece of wire wrapped around the top to hold it together until the adhesive dried. A little glitter washi tape is wrapped around the top part of the dress once it was dry.

The Delaney and Cheviot butterfly dies create the vellum and glitter paper wings and the sentiment is cut from red glitter paper and adhered to vellum banners.

This card is also being entered in Virginia's View Challenge 14: Layers and Dimension.

My second card is based on Laurie Willison's tutorial for Make It Monday #208: Ombre Stamping. I had feathers on my mind after capturing photos of this wild peacock when picking up my daughter from a friend's house. He is usually hiding in the shade but decided to take a walk around the yard while I waited.

I pulled out the largest feather from PTI's Feather Finery and stamped it with Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks to create the ombre design.

The sentiment was made with a Swoosh stamp and die and a few sequins and raindrops were added before the white panel was popped up on the teal card base. This card is being entered in the Seize the Birthday challenge in the Anything Goes category.

MFT Sketch #215 + Merry Monday #145: Candy Canes

I have a card to share that combines this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #215 with Merry Monday #145: Candy Canes.

As you can see, I flipped the sketch and embossed the red card base with a diagonal striped embossing folder. A candy cane wreath is made with the MFT winter wreath die and frames the circle cutout allowing the embossed stripes to peek through.

The sentiment from an older MFT stamp set, Inspired by Christmas, is stamped and heat embossed on    a die-namics sentiment strip.

These little candy canes were picked up at Crate & Barrel during their after Christmas sale a year ago, but I couldn't find them when I was making cards this past December. I've been doing a little reorganizing of the office and was happy to uncover the package.

Merry Monday #144: Bows & PTI 8th Anniversay + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says

A landscaping project and some great weather has distracted me from making cards, but when darkness fell I headed into the office for a quick papercrafting fix. This first card is for Merry Monday Challenge #144: Bows.

I pulled out my favorite May Arts red chevron ribbon and tied a big, fat bow around an embossed panel.

A simple red tag hangs from the bow and provides a spot for the sentiment.

Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 8th Anniversary this month with multiple challenges and prizes. The first challenge is to take one of the Color Recipes and Sketch Recipes to create a card.

A Raspberry Fizz reinker tinted the embossing paste used to create a line of confetti down one side of the kraft card base. While the paste was drying, a circle was cut out of the Tag Sale #5 Die and a New Leaf banner die cut.

The Wet Paint happy die is cut from Hawaiian Shores cardstock a couple of times and stacked on the tag and birthday is heat embossed on the banner to finish the sentiment. The banner is woven through the tag and wrapped wround the edge of the card front.

The harvest gold color is brought in with the Baker's Twine.

This card is also being linked to the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where Simon Says All Things Bright & Beautiful this week.

Merry Monday #143 : Carolers/Music + Simon Says Anything Goes

I can't believe I might get a post up before the afterschool madness starts. This is a card I made for the Merry Monday Challenge #143: Carolers/Music and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog where Anything Goes this week.

The card is miles from where I started and then required a further adjustment because of an ink smudge. The Paper Smooches "fa la la" is stamped on inked holly leaves and heat embossed white. A few extra leaves are tucked under the speech bubble panel, hopefully balancing the card out a bit as it was a little top heavy.

A scrap of Teresa Collins designer paper and a sheet music embossed panel are adhered directly to the card base.

The trio of glittery enamel dots finish the card off.

Merry Monday #142: Houses + Card Concept #27: Love + Inkspirational #74: Ombre

I have a couple of cards to share today. This first one is for the Merry Monday Challenge #142: Houses.

I took the white & red palette and trio of houses from the inspiration photo and used them on my card, selectively cutting a panel with a Memory Box Country Landscape die.

The Baker's Twine and red button are also details taken from the photo and the card is finished with a PTI Rustic Wreath sentiment,

This second card is for The Card Concept #27: Love challenge based on this pretty inspiration photo.

There were so many different ways to go with this challenge and in the end I went with a Clean & Layered card. The panel is inked with Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Barn Red Distress inks before cutting the MFT High-Rise letters and the hearts.

The letters and hearts alternate on a piece of black twine to make a sweet sentiment banner that sits on an embossed panel. This is another Paper Studios embossing folder I manipulated a bit to get the vertical stripes. The orientation of the folder would have given me a horizontal stripe, but if you take a look at my last post here, you can see how I lined up the partial second embossing of the panel.

A touch of clear Wink of Stella on the hearts finish this card.

I am also entering this card in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog, where this week Simon Says Have a Heart, and the Inspirational Challenge #74: Ombre. This is a new challenge for me, but I couldn't resist joining in the fun.

Thanks for the storage tips and organization ideas that you have passed on. It is a work in progress, but up to now I have stored my stamps by manufacturer and have decided to try a hybrid system with more organization by theme.

Instead of breaking up stamp sets I am making an inventory of all stamps and dies using Evernote (thank you for the suggestion Ardyth!) and I feel like it is already paying off. The little heart die I used on this card came from a MFT Accent It - Calendar Components die set that I didn't remember had a heart.

Curtain Call + FMS168 + Seize the Birthday & Merry Monday #140 + Paper Smooches

Today was laundry day, so between loads I kept popping into the office and work on these two cards. They were both the kind that needed a little time to come together.

There was a delicious cupcake to inspire us at the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge for Challenge #149 {Snowflakes}, and since my snowflake dies are from Paper Smooches, I checked out the current Sparks challenge and was happy to see it is Anything Goes.

I think it is pretty easy to see how I was inspired: the snowflakes, color palette and embossed vertical lines all came from the challenge photo. The sentiment from the Christmas Sampler stamp set is heat embossed on a vellum banner.

This second card has been floating around in my head ever since I saw the cool wintery scene in the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Winter Wonder. It all came together relatively quickly when Freshly Made Sketches #168 posted earlier today.

I say relatively fast, because numerous panels were cut and discarded before I settled on the embossed white cardstock, winter white crepe paper and white patterned vellum panels. I have a crafting resolution to use more of the little bits and pieces I have collected over the years instead of just collecting them and I'm off to a good start (the crepe paper and pearl spray were picked up at a local Scrapbook Expo at least 2 years ago).

The Delicata Silver Shimmer ink was perfect for the birthday senitment and echoes the stainless steel thermos (flask?) in the photo.

This card is also being linked up to Seize the Birthday in the Anything Goes category.
