Freshly Made Sketches #466

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #466!

This terrific sketch from Jen Timko really helped me throw together a last minute birthday card for my son. Every year I say I'm going to keep a stash of masculine birthday cards on hand and every year I seem to panic at the last minute looking for one.

This buffalo check patterned paper caught my eye and made me think of his favorite blanket. The Stamp Market Alphabet dies were carefully lined up to cut the first part of the sentiment before the panel was popped up over a slightly wider and narrower white panel. It's hard to see in these photos, but the edges were distressed for a little texture.

Keeping the thought of a cozy blanket, the sentiment panel is adhered to a Lifestyle Crafts Knit embossed panel before being added to a black card base.

I hope you check out the fabulous Clean Team designs and play along with us for the last challenge of 2020. Yes, you have an extra week to join in the fun!

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. This is a fabulous masculine card! I love what you've done with the sentiment, and the plaid provides such a cozy feel, which is perfect since there's a connection to his blanket. Have a wonderful Christmas, Jacquie!

  2. Wonderful card and I love your plaid background.

  3. That plaid is so sharp! Very stylish card!

  4. Perfect!! Definitely into my inspiration files for ideas for my own sons!!

  5. Terrific masculine card, and loving the plaid on the knit texture.

  6. This is such a gorgeous card Jacquie! I love the buffalo plaid! It definitely reminds me of a nice warm blanket! I saw the same thing every year about masculine cards and end up in the same predicament! Have a Merry Christmas!

  7. The big negative die-cut and the buffalo plaid make such a striking statement card! Just gorgeous!

  8. Jacquie, this is an awesome masculine card! I've pinned it for future inspiration, because I am NEVER able to come up with great masculine designs. :-)

It makes my day when you take time to comment - thank you!
