CASology Week 78 + Simon Says & RIC#51

I'm popping between loads of laundry to post a couple of cards. This first one is for Runway Inspired Challenge #51.

I took my inspiration from the color palette and the thin lines (belt, black edging) on the outfit.

The "happy" die is partially inset in the blue panel. To keep the part of the word not inset on the same plane, I cut the word a second time out of white cardstock and layered it under the red die cut.

The black ink on the stamped part of the sentiment balances the black edge on the blue panel. A few sequins are a festive finish to the card.

This second card is being entered in the CASology Week 78: Dot challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge to Emboss It.

This idea came to me quickly, and was just as quick to execute. I cut the circle (dot?) in the kraft panel first, then progressively smaller circles in scrap paper. Once I adhered the panel together, I marked the card base and stamped the sentiment.

A favorite Cuttlebug chevron dots embossing folder provides the more dots for the challenge and fun texture to the card.

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. I love the way you inserted only part of the word in the panel, and the telescoping circles are very eye catching.

  2. I really like the blue and the inner cutting inset of the circles, STRING impact set against the Kraft!

Thanks for adding this brilliantly CAS gorgeous card to the CASology Gallery and joining us this week -please join us again !!!

  3. Jacquie your cards are fabulous--love kraft and blue together! Thank you for joining us this week at CASology!

  6. Love both of these cards, Jacquie. Your dot card is totally spot on, with many different interpretations of dot and a fantastic color palette. Thank you for playing along at CASology this week.

  7. These both rock! I love the inlaid happy on the first card. The dotty chevrons and framed sentiment on the second card are brilliant! Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!

  8. Love your multi-layered dot! This is so cool and a great design that could be replicated with different colours and messages (and placement of the dot) to create a completely different card! I LOVE that kind of versatility! Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!

  9. Love how you've captured the reds and blues from the inspiration pic for the Runway Inspired Challenge - and the technique you've used for the die cut word! Genius!

  10. Jacquie, there is so much dotty goodness going on in your card...LOVE that embossing folder! So glad you joined in the fun at CASology!

  11. Ahh, neat trick on the die cut "happy" to put another layer under the other side. So love your attention to detail, Jacquie!

It makes my day when you take time to comment - thank you!
