Make it Monday #99: Repeats & Rainbows

I will admit I hoard my Papertrey Ink cardstock scraps, so had quite a few pieces to work with when I saw the Make It Monday #99: Repeats & Rainbows challenge to use one of the 6 rainbow color schemes Nichole Heady created, along with a repeated die cut or stamped image on a card. The link will take you to all the color schemes and a tutotrial on Nichole's blog.

For this card, I used color scheme 5.

Rainbow-Scheme-5

Each color is cut with the thicker chevron border die and adhered to form a rainbow block of color.

I love versatile sentiments - this card could be use for a graduation, new job, retirement or any reason for a celebration, including a birthday. This sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Bash Sentiments and inked with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.

New Year, New Challenges

I thought I would try a few new (to me) challenges this year. I am busy playing with a few new (to me) stamps, making thank you cards for my kids to send out and taking a little break to photograph those that are ready before the skies darken as we have another wave of stormy weather coming our way.

I want to quickly share this one.

I stamped the tags & sentiments with my new Paper Smooches Qwick Qwips stamp set, mounted them on a Spellbinders die cut base and tied them with a little Baker's Twine.

My color palette came from the Colour Q Challenge #170 to use one of the Royal Court favorite's from the last year. I picked LeAnne's:

I am playing along with the CASology Challenge 25 - do using new stamps and making cards to say "thank you" for new toys count?

The CAS-ual Friday Challenge #84 is Thank You.

And finally, I am in love with my new Paper Smooches stamps and am linking this card to the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Anything Goes.

Retro Sketch Tuesday Trigger: Sweet Dreams

My kids aren't back in school until next week and the schedule they are keeping this week means I have a nice hour (or 2 or 3) in the morning before they start demanding my time and attention. I am really been enjoying the creative time and have another card to share today.

Cath posted the current Tuesday Trigger: Sweet Dreams at Moxie Fab World blog several weeks ago. This image has been in the back of my mind and I decided to pair it with the current retrosketch#44. I love Arielle's sketches, but often find myself running out of time before I use one (and this one will be squeaking in a just few hours ahead of the deadline).

I knew I wanted to play with the quatrefoil pattern in the carpet of the Tuesday Trigger and used the Memory Box Tessatina border die and cardstock to create a similar design. Creating the pattern myself allows me to control the color palette and add extra texture to the card.

The soft teal and yellow/gold colors really appealed to me, so I used them along with the clean, crisp white. A button and twine embellishment tie the two panels together and the Papertrey Ink sentiment sits on a My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag panel. I love mixing product from different companies!

I am linking this card to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge New Something because of the my new Tessatina Border Die.
