MIM#187: Partial Die Cuts + ATCAS#51: Tag and WCMD 2014 Winner

Eeek, did you read the title of this post!?!

Yes, I am a Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine World Card Making Day 2014 Contest winner in the Hello/Thinking of You category!!!!! Please excuse my use of exclamation marks, but I am pretty darn excited and have had to sit on this bit of great news for almost a week.

You can see the announcement here, but have to wait until the April 2015 issue of the magazine to see the card.

I am going to calm myself down long enough to tell you about these tags I made and then I think I need to head to the gym and burn off a little of this excitment.

Melissa Phillips has a terrific video tutorial over at Capture the Moment, challenging us to use partial die cutting on a holiday project for Make It Monday #187. You will never guess what die I decided to use :)

Yes, Rustic Wreath is still making me very happy, so I created a trio of kraft tags with pieces of the wreath die cuts, sentiments from the stamp set, pearls and my other latest obssession, silk ribbon.

Last year I gave my sister a set of holiday tags for her birthday and she said they were too nice to use. As much as that feedback made me really happy, I want her to use them so I can make more for her.

The tags are clean and simple to echo my sister's clean and elegant sense of style.

Have I mentioned my obssession with silk ribbon right now? I can't get enough of it.

I am also linking these tags to Addicted to CAS #51: Tag. This is my first time joining in on their challenge, but I'm sure it won't be the last.

I want to give a plug for my friend Lori McCausland, who is the source of my silk ribbon. Lori has been in the papercrafting world for a long time, teaching, running a boutique and hosting retreats in Southern California.

Her latest venture is Scrapping With a Twist and she is teaching a Mixed Media class in Oceanside on December 6th. Originally sold out, she has negotiated with the venue for a bigger room and has a few spots left so, if anyone wants to join us and get messy, check out her Facebook page here.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jacquie

  3. Aw, Jackie, that is SO awesome that you were named a WCMD winner. It doesn't surprise me as I peruse your creations and admittedly don't comment like I should. I'll try to do better in the future. Your tags are beautiful ~ can see why your Sis hates to use them (she wants to just stare at them). Keep up the great week ~ can't wait to see your winning creation!

  8. Jacquie!!! Eeek! I'm SO EXCITED for you winning the WCMD contest! You deserve it, my friend! How hard that must have been to sit on for a whole week : ) Also, I'm really loving your tags with that wreath die. FAB idea! I'm excited because I also have that die and can totally CASE your idea. It looks so rustic with the kraft, but elegant with the pearls. Finally, thanks for your comment on my December Daily post. I didn't see it until just now when I left a comment for someone else, as it's not coming to me in my email. For some reason that happens will all of Lisa Elton's comments too. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you posted any of your December Daily pages, books or mini books? I bet they look amazing!
