CASology Week 246: SEASON

Welcome to Week 246 at CASology!

What was your first thought when you saw this week's cue card?  Too many ideas starting swirling in my head. I was bouncing from fresh herbs to sports to time of year and finally settled on grill season.

Technically, I can grill year round but I tend to use the oven more in the winter and grill several times a week when Daylight Savings time starts and I have better light to see what I'm cooking. I used a Technique Tuesday Christmas stamp for the sentiment, layering it on a Lawn Fawn grass stamp and then added the Memory Box grill die cut.

Check out the Design Team cards for more terrific ideas!

Muse #212 + Seize the Birthday & FMS284 + Simon Says Showers and/or Flowers

There are lots of spring projects going on at our house but I managed to sneak away from the fence building to spend a little time creating today.

This first card is inspired by Jenni Murray and her card for Muse Challenge #212 and the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes option.

The Hero Arts Flower Burst background stamp is heat embossed on a white panel and then inked all over with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. A little Peacock Feathers Distress Ink was added to the center of the flowers before the embossing was ironed off to leave a matte finish.

The PTI sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on a banner to finish the card off.

This second card is inspired by the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches #284 and the Wednesday Challenge to use Showers and/or Flowers at Simon Says Stamp.

A Limeade Ice panel is embossed with a Sizzix leaf patterned embossing folder that is added to the center of the card base. A couple of white panels are cut using MFT stitched panel dies (manipulating them slightly to get a 5.5inch panel) and then popped up on either side of the embossed panel.

Two Concord & 9th Floral die cuts are adhered to the white panels and an MFT sentiment die is stacked in the center and adhered across the three panels.

CASology Week 245: GROW

Welcome to Week 245 at CASology!

Were you following the long, long, long labor of April the Giraffe? Well, she finally had a beautiful, baby boy and inspired this week's card. The cue word GROW made me think of growing a family with the addition of a new baby.

The Memory Box Giraffe Trio were cut from patterned papers and adhered to a stitched rectangle panel. The PTI Perfect Pairing sentiment was stamped with PTI Blueberry Sky ink on a banner that is wrapped around the popped up panel.

This close up gives you a better view of the subtle patterns in the papers. There are so many directions GROW can take you, even the simpliest birthday card celebrating growing one more year older works for this challenge. Check out the Design Team cards for more ideas!

CAS(E) This Sketch #216 + Simon Says Spring Colors

I've been missing my craft time. When I realized their worlds had aligned and my kids had the same Spring Break, we planned a quick trip to Texas to knock The Alamo off my husband's bucket list, eat BBQ and listen to a lot of great music. I had a one day turn around to do laundry and fill the fridge for the family before heading off to Palm Springs to spend a week with a few of my oldest and dearest girlfriends. I am slowly getting through the transition back into real life and took a break to create this morning.

This card was inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch! #216 and and the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where the challenge is Spring Color Inspiration.

I selectively stamped the "happy" part of the sentiment on my panel before embossing it with a dotted chevron design for the horizontal line element in the sketch. The "Easter" part of the sentiment was die cut and colored with a rainbow of Copic markers before being adhered.

A trio of chocolate Poppystamps bunnies are cut and placed under the sentiment. The third bunny has wised up to the fate of chocolate bunnies everywhere and decided to head for the hills.

CASology Week 244: STRONG

Welcome to Week 244 at CASology!

I decided to highlight an encouraging sentiment that reflects the cue word.

The sentiment is backed with a soft feather image from Papertrey Ink and then the panel cut with a Wonky Rectangle die before being mounted on a yellow card base.

Which direction will STRONG take you? An encouragement card? Congratulations? For more great ideas, check out the Design Team cards.

CASology Week 243: ICING

Welcome to Week 243 at CASology!

I think we might see a lot of pretty cakes in the gallery this week! I couldn't wait to pull of my new Stampin' Up Crazy Cake stamp set to create a brightly iced layer cake in a couple of my daughter's favorite colors.

A touch of Wink of Stella adds a bit of glitter to the candle flame.

Check out the Design Team cards for more takes on the cue word!
