CAS(E) this Sketch #100 + CASology 122: Flag & The Card Concept #23: Krafty Christmas Take 2

I still haven't decided if I'm going to mass produce a Christmas card for mail out this year, or continue to make as many one of a kind cards as I can. While I'm still thinking about it, I added two more to the stack.

This first card is my second take on The Card Concept #23 Krafty Christmas challenge and in the Clean & Layering category again (I think).

I had made this layered snowflake wreath from a Memory Box die a little while ago and never used it as originally planned.

To keep the design simple, an open frame is made with two square dies nested together and a matching enamel dot is place in the middle of the snowflakes. This is another sentiment from the Technique Tuesday Jingle All The Way stamp set that I've used a few times this week.

A close up lets you see the twinkle from a Wink of Stella brushed over both the vellum and cardstock die cuts.

This second card is based on CAS(E) this Sketch #100. Yes, 100!!! There is even more inspiration this week, as past Design Team members have joined the current Design Team to provide some extra amazing cards.

I really wanted to help celebrate the milestone and play along this week but, even with all the great DT inspiration, was having a really hard time translating this sketch into a unique design. Is wasn't until I saw the CASology Week 22 cue card: Flag that an idea came together for me.

I added a piece of patterned paper to the card base, carefully cutting it to center the "don't peek until Dec 24th" phrase, and then cut a vellum flag and white cardstock flag to layer over it. These layers are only adhered together at the top, allowing a bit of swing and movement between the layers.

Part of the sentiment is stamped on the white panel before it is embossed for added texture. The second sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in silver on the vellum.

A thin line of Diamond Stickles adds a frosty finish to the card.

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. Both your cards are fantastic! Perfect for the challenges. I love the way you made a wreath with the snowflakes.

  2. Oh, my, Jacquie, you brought out the BIG creativity hat for these two cards! I love them both equally. That MB snowflake reminds me of cutting out snowflakes as a kid from a piece of paper folded in half and that sediment is one of my very favorites! THEN, the idea for the flag, with the frosted edge, and peaking right next to the "no peeking?" Genius!! Hugs, Darnell

  3. Love both of these. Your last card is so striking--I really like how you added dimension.

  4. Oh, these are both beautiful, Jacquie! I especially love your take on the CTS sketch!

  5. Oh, I love that stunning snowflake on the first card and I love the kraft base with the red and white, too, Jacquie!! And what a clever idea you had for the CTS card!!! Those flags look great and I love how you have done the sentiment!!! The little touch of stickles adds to the loveliness!! Both cards are super, Jacquie!!!

  6. Brilliant how you blended the snowflake die cuts together like that - a lovely card! On your 2nd card, I love the peek-a-boo vellum panel that incorporates part of the sentiment!

  7. Stunning cards, Jacquie! I love the snowflake on the first one and the "flags" on the second one. Great takes on both challenges!

  8. Jacquie, you are so CLEVER!! Love the FLAG and the sentiments nestled in there, PERFECTION, Bravo, Bravo!

  9. Two fantastic cards, the shimmer on the vellum snowflake looks fab. And your flags edged with the Stickles looks so frosty and festive. Thanks for joining in at CASology, Anita x (Guest Designer)

  10. Hi Jacquie! Love that little slip of vellum showing... gorgeous all!

  11. Oh my! That flag card is so pretty and just FULL of interesting elements! I especially love that silver embossed sentiment on the vellum...gorgeous!!!

Your snowflake card is also beautiful! I love the layers and the touch of sparkle you added! So pretty against the kraft!

Thank you so much for joining us over at CASology! :)

  12. WOW!! Both cards are gorgeous. I must agree with others, that slip of vellum really takes the second card to the top. I may have to purchase some vellum just to case this beauty.

  13. Love both of your cards Jacquie! The dimension of the snowflake and the peek of vellum are both wonderful elements! We appreciate you joining us at the Card Concept!

It makes my day when you take time to comment - thank you!
