Freshly Made Sketches #377

Narelle Farrugia created this pretty sketch which had me immediately thinking of layering floral images. In the last few years our garden has moved to drought resistant succulents and I've come to love their wide range of colors and flowers.

I used MFT Sweet Succulents for this design, stamping the flowering, multi-armed prickly pear in a round pot directly on the panel and the aloe and agave on scraps of paper to be colored and fussy cut. The sketch helped me decide how to pair the succulents and pots to echo the circle and square elements of the design.

As always, the Clean Team has wonderful cards based on this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. We hope you are inspired to play along with us this week!

CASology Week 333: BOUNCE

Welcome to Week 333 at CASology!

I pulled out my Art Impressions Hip Hop Girlfriends stamps as soon as I saw the cue word this week. Both the image and sentiment are heat embossed on watercolor paper.

Zig Real Brush markers are used to color in the ladies' clothes. With such a busy image, leaving part of the image uncolored is a way to keep the card clean and simple.

The design team has terrific cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #376

Our host this week is the uber talented Karren Johnson with a sketch where the sentiment straddles two panels. Concord & 9th's City Stacks stamp set has been sitting on my desk since I picked it up during the holiday sales (after being completely smitten with it while crafting with Joyce Mehrberg one day) and I realized it would be easy to stamp this sentiment in two colors with a little masking.

Once the sentiments were heat embossed on the panel, a line was masked off between them and the bottom half inked with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The city skyline image is lined up around the top sentiment and a black pen used to pull a few of the building edges down to the inked portion of the panel.

The Clean Team has fabulous cards to help inspire you! I hope you play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week.

CASology Week 332: FURBABY

Welcome to Week 332 at CASology!

I went with a nontraditional furbaby, using a Paper Smooches Bunny Card die and Critter Card Puns sentiment to make this super quick and easy card.

The bunny ears are adhered on a diagonal line for a little added interest.

This is my real life furbaby, Bella, the world's sweetest Maltipoo. Does anyone make Maltipoo stamps?

The design team has great cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #375

Clean Team designer Cecile has given us a fun sketch this week! I took the leaf literally and cut a Memory Box Massa Leaf while still thinking about how I would use the other elements of the design. Assorted bird and butterfly were pulled out and discarded until I came across the Memory Box Drifting Side Butterfly dies.

Using scraps, I cut the die several times to create a rainbow body. A PTI Tipped Top die cut is embossed with a large floral design to provide a base for the other die cuts and an MFT Essential Sentiment added to the bottom corner of the panel.

How does Cecile's sketch inspire you? I hope you find time to play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

CASology Week 331: WAVE

Welcome to Week 331 at CASology!

So did you think of an ocean wave or a waving hand when you saw the cue word this week? I immediately thought of MFT Polar Bear Pals and decided to let this large, waving bear take center stage on my card.

The image and sentiment were stamped and heat embossed directly on to the watercolor paper card base before being colored with Zig Real Brush Markers. Yes, I made a true one layer card!

The design team has fabulous cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #374

Clean Team member Jennifer Brun has given us such a fun sketch this week! I went from thoughts of butterflies to balloons to confetti before finally deciding to give a bokeh technique a try.

I love how this panel turned out! The bokeh circles were added after making a circle stencil out of a piece of transparency and swiping the ink on with a piece of paper towel. I found this worked best to control the amount of white that was added. The smallest dots are stamps from Avery Elle Bunting.

A few sequins add to the party feel and circle motif.

I'm looking forward to seeing a fun gallery this week!

CASology Week 330: BOUQUET

Welcome to Week 330 at CASology!

Time to pull out your pretty floral stamps and dies and create a bouquet!

I used Avery Elle Thanks a Bunch for my card. After the image is stamped, it is die cut with an MFT mini scalloped stitched circle and then the sentiment is added so the bouquet is angled to the side. A twine bow is added for interest and texture.

The design team has a lovely selection of cards this week!
