CASology Week #242: TEXT

Welcome to Week 242 at CASology!

As a font junkie, I love this cue word! I did end up going with a modern take on the word text. As the mom of teens, I think we might communicate via text more than any other method. Heaven help them if they have to actually answer a phone and talk to someone!?

I used the MFT Smart Phone die and Friend Request stamps to creat my little birthday conversation.

The text bubbles are popped up over the phone for a little dimension.

Muse #208 + Simon Says Stamp

I have an unexpected, very free weekend with my son deciding to join my husband on a little road trip. My daughter is in and out between work and friends, but requires very little from me. Let's just say, I rarely hear "is there anything for lunch?" or "what's for dinner?" from her. In fact, when she texted to say she was on her way home from work last night, she asked if I needed anything.💗

Projects at the top of my "to do" list are being ignored as I alternate between organizing and playing in the office. This is a quick post to share a card inspired by Muse #208 and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to Use More Than One Die or Punch.

From Jenni's Muse card, I was inspired by the gingham, pink and onesie to make this card.

I pulled gingham paper from my stash to cut the Paper Smooches Onesie die, heat embossed a heart and mounted it on a mini-scalloped stitched oval die from MFT. The Lawn Fawn sentiment is stamped in two colors for added interest.

CASology Week 241: MELT

Welcome to Week 241 at CASology!

STAMPlorations is our sponsor this week and generously provided a few of the Design Team members with stamps or a die for our MELT challenge. Shery sent me one of her own designs, Holiday Expressions: Yuletide Cheer, and this adorable image and the late winter storm last week helped me come up with the idea of a snowman repeating the mantra "let it snow" while hoping to avoid the winter melt into spring.

The snowman was stamped and masked on a white panel, with a sketchy black line added to ground the image. The mask allowed me to add a very subtle inked blue sky before adding a few aqua and red details.

The sentiment was added three times onto a thought bubble die cut and popped up over the stamped panel.

For more terrific ideas, check out the Design Team cards!

Muse #207

This card was inspired by Tracey McNeely's card for Muse #207.

Muse #207

As you can see, I completely CASEd Tracey's layout, made an Easter card and used a bit of patterned paper.

Instead of die cutting my main image, I masked the Lawn Fawn Chirpy Chirp Chirp
stamps so that it looks like my bunny ears wearing chick has just hatched from the Easter egg. A few smaller eggs from the PTI Simply Spring Borders stamp set were also stamped and masked. A very light touch of green and blue were added to the scene before the smaller eggs were unmasked and the Lawn Fawn grass border added.

The eggs and chick were colored with Copic markers before being mounted over the Lawn Fawn diagonal striped paper panel. The PTI sentiment is selectively stamped so that two colors could be used.

CASology Week 240: FOLIAGE

Welcome to Week 240 at CASology!

After all the rain we have had this winter in California, there is a little too much foliage in my garden if we count the weeds. It has been great for many of the tropical plants though, and those are the ones I was thinking about as I pulled out MFT's Wild Greenery dies for my card this week.

I inked a white panel with Pinefeather, Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Inks before cutting a few leaves.  The Avery Elle sentiment is stamped on the kraft panel before the leaves and a trio of enamel dots were added.

I think the gallery will be full of gorgeous leaves this week! For more inspiration, check out the talented Design Team!

Muse #206 + CAS(E) The Sketch #212 + SSS For a Special Lady + Seize the Birthday

I combined a few challenges to create this card. I've been thinking about Anita's black embossed & brightly colored panel on her card for Muse #206 all week and, as I started to play with a few flower stamps, found myself subconsciously working with the design from CAS(E) This sketch #212.

The PTI Bold Blossoms were stamped, masked and heat embossed in black and then colored withZig Real Brush markers. A Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Border stamp provides the sentiment and is also heat embossed.

I am also linking this card to Seize the Birthday, where Anything Goes, and Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge Blog, where the current challenge is to make something For a Special Lady.

CASology Week 239: LANDMARK

Welcome to Week 239 at CASology!

Landmark can be a specific thing (Eiffel Tower, Space Needle, etc.) or a general thing (lighthouse, inukshuk, etc.) or an event or milestone, leaving you so many different ways to interpret this cue word.

I was inspired to make this card after spotting the collection of souvenir snowglobes in my daughter's room the other day.

This card took a little planning, as I wanted the glass beads and stars to fall on both sides of the Seattle skyline, highlighting the landmark Space Needle. Two cuts of the skyline die are made and adhered together for a little more stability and then two foam panels cut with a slightly larger circle to go on either side of the skyline.

You can see how the filling moves freely on both sides of the skyline.

The sentiment is pieced together from Avery Elle's Simply Tags stamp set and heat embossed on a Memory Box snow globe base.

Check out the Design Team cards for more great ideas!

MUSE #205

I have time for a quick post to share the card I was inspired to make by Michelle Lupton as the Muse this week.

Michelle Lupton Muse #205

I love this technique, pairing an embossing pen and stencil, and played around with it for a while over the week. This is my favorite panel made with a Tim Holtz stencil. The randomly embossed and colored sections reminded my of falling tears so I added an Altenew sentiment to make a sympathy card.

I know I will continue to play with a few more stencils and this technique!

We are heading out the door, and driving up to Anaheim, to watch the Canucks beat the Ducks.
