CASology Week 289: FIT

Welcome to Week 289 at CASology!

I have to admit this cue word had me stumped for a bit, so I did what I often do when stumped and spent some time tidying my desk. I discovered this Concord & 9th flower die cut and had a lightbulb moment. FIT could be fitting in the pieces of an inlaid die cut.

Four small stitched squares were die cut and adhered to a scrap of computer paper to form a larger square. The flower die was placed in the center of this square, cut and removed carefully to make sure none of the little pieces are lost. For a little extra texture, the colored panel is embossed with dots before being placed on a second square than was run through a Xyron to cover it with adhesive. The Xyron adhesive made it easy to inset the flower and small pieces of the die cut.

The design team has terrific ideas to inspire you!

Pepertrey Ink February 2018 Blog Hop

We were given this pretty Easter tablescape to inspire us for the Papertrey Ink February 2018 Blog Hop. Follow the link for the details on how to join in the fun!

This inspiration photo immediately made me think of the PTI Simply Spring Borders stamp & die set.   I wasn't sure how I was going to use it until I saw Kim Heggin's card for the Muse inspiration this week, with her animal friends playing in the grass.

The PTI Balloon Shaker die, turned upside down and with the bottom of the balloon snipped off, provided an egg shaped framed panel for this spring scene. The eggs were stamped first, then masked and a trio of bunnies added. The bunnies were also masked so that the background lawn & sky could be inked before the grass border was added in multiple layers.

The eggs were colored with Copic markers and another line of the grass border stamped over the bottom of the eggs and bunnies so they are sitting in the grass. A stamp positioner helped create a two colored sentiment and a trio of larger eggs finish off the card.

CASology Week 288: PUN

Welcome to Week 288 at CASology!

I'm anticipating a lot of chuckles in the gallery these week with PUN as our cue card. My need for a masculine birthday card influenced the decision to use the MFT Polar Bear Pals stamp set. I stamped and die cut the bear image with a MFT Arch die before masking a inking the background with the lightest whisper of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. Copic markers were used to color the scarf and the sentiment was heat embossed on a dark blue banner before the panel and banner were popped up on the card base.

Check out the terrific design team cards!

CASology Week 287: TOGETHER

Welcome to Week 287 at CASology!

I dug out the Avery Elle We Go Together stamp set as soon as I saw TOGETHER was our cue word this week. My biggest challenge was deciding which images to use and in the end settled for a trio that included the heart pair.

My TH Stamp Platform helped me position the donut & olive first, then mask them and complete the stamping. Copic markers were used to color the images before the panel was popped up on the card base.

The design team has everything from wedding cards, to birthday cards and more Valentines to inspire you this week!

FMS #323 + CTD #479 + JUGS #426 + PSC #41

Several challenges went into making this card, starting with the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches #323 and colors from Color Throwdown #479. Given the love theme from Just Us Girls #426 and Poppystamps Challenge #41 to use hearts, it wasn't long before this design came together.

A white panel is inked with Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks and various sizes of the Poppystamps Love Balloon dies cut out. The die cuts are arranged on a heart embossed panel to mimic the color blocking of the sketch.

The Poppystamps Sentiments of Love stamp is paired with a Memory Box Sketchbook Love die to provide the sentiment.

CASology Week 286: BUTTERFLY

Welcome to Week 286 at CASology!

I'm anticipating a very full and beautiful gallery this week! My biggest challenge was deciding which of my butterfly stamps and dies was going to be used. In the end, this Poppystamps Princess Butterfly die earned the front & center spot on my card.

Distress inks were used as watercolors to create a background for the die cut. The white panel is popped up over the watercolor panel, with the butterfly adhered only at the center, allowing the wings to move freely. An Avery Elle sentiment finishes off this card.

The design team has gorgeous cards to help inspire you!
