CASology Week 350: WATER

Welcome to Week 350 at CASology!

There are so many directions to go with out cue word this week that I had a hard time narrowing it down. As I will be sitting on the beach or floating in the sea when this card posts, in the end pulled out Paper Smooches Get Outta Town for this great sentiment.

The tropical drink is stamped and masked first, then the wave lightly inked in and the sentiment added.

The design team has fabulous cards for you this week!

CASology Week 212: FUN

Welcome to Week 212 at CASology!

I don't think we could have an easier Cue Card to work with this week, it is so wide open for interpretation! My husband and I recently had a quick little trip to San Francisco and it reminded me of how much fun he is to be around when he isn't distracted by work. My next goal is to get him all to myself in New York City.

The Altenew Sketchy NYC skyline is stamped in black and rainbow colored with Copic markers. Before the finished panel is popped up on the black card base, a few sentiments from MFT Off the Chart stamp set were heat embossed along the edge.

Check out the terrific Design Team cards for more ideas on where FUN can take you!

CASology Week 208: JOURNEY

Welcome to Week 208 at CASology!

Journey is a great word for all of us traveling this time of year. I pulled out Paper Smooches Get Outta Town stamp set and stamped the suitcase image on three different patterned papers, used Copics to color the handles and clasps and then fussy cut and reassembled the stack on a scrap of cardstock.

I'd love to have this brightly colored stack of suitcases, but will have to make do with my boring black bag later this month.

For more terrific ideas check out the Design Team cards.

Curtain Call: Tasty Tropics + PP300 CAS Celebration + SSS Add Shimmer

I have a quick card to share today.

If you have seen the Curtain Call: Tasty Tropics photo, you know exactly where my inspiration came from.

A sentiment and coconut drink image from Paper Smooches Get Outta Town stamp set are stamped on a scalloped stitched rectangle die cut before the image is colored with Copic markers.

The image is coated with Wink of Stella to add a little festive shine and the panel popped up on a Berry Sorbet card base.

I am also linking this card to the Paper Players Challenge #300: CAS Celebration and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog where the challenge is to Add Some Shimmer.

CASology Week 187: Spin

Welcome  to Week 187 at the CASology Challenge!

I have to admit this word had me spinning my wheels for a few days before I decided which way to go with it.  What is your preferred way to spin around the world? We know a few 22 year olds who are heading out on the adventure of a lifetime and this card reflects some of the travel decisions they will be making in the next few months: train, plane or ferry?

The dies are all from the MFT World Traveler die set and are used with a Tim Holtz sentiment, spinner and brad.

So, is your head spinning with ideas yet?  Once again, the Design Team has done an incredible job coming up with very different spins on the word this week.

The 12 Kits of Occasions: October 2015 Guest Designer

I was equal parts thrilled and terrified when Joyce Mehrberg, the October host for the fabulous 12 Kits of Occasions invited me to Guest Design along with the super talented Design Team regulars.

The theme this month is Let's Go and the kit was filled with wonderful patterned paper, stamped images and sentiments, die cuts, washi tape, maps & tissue paper.

Almost immediately I knew I was going to make a shaker out of the luggage tag die cut and Let's Get Lost stamped sentiment. The strap from the tag is trimmed slightly to fit my card and a button & twine added from my stash.

Microbeads are my favorite filling for shaker cards.

This card is heading to my sister and I hope it inspires her to literally pack her bags.

Don't you just love the tiny suitcase tag?

A curved edge die added a bit of movement to this great Penny Black stamped image and Copic markers gave me just the touch of color I wanted. One of the sentiments in the Kit is trimmed and added to a curved arrow from my stash.

This last card went through a few days of indecision before I cut the Tim Holtz Cityscape stamped image into two pieces and paired them with the "I love you" sentiment.

The smaller images are layered on panels cut from a large background image and then all layered on one of the patterned papers from the Kit.

I still have lots of leftovers from the Kit and more card ideas, but as often happens, time ran out.

Please head over the The 12 Kits Of Occasions blog and check out the wonderful Design Team work. In addition to the Design Team, you will see that Kara Vrabel is also back with the team as a Guest Designer this month.

For me, the best part of getting to play along this month was getting my Kit delivered in person by Joyce. I can't believe how long it has taken us to meet in real life and hope next time involves some stamping!

Curtain Call: Travel On + FMS185 + CASology 145: Shape + Simon Says Sentimental

I hope every celebrating Mother's Day today had a wonderful day! I told my kids the only thing I wanted was them to make a nice seafood dinner and they came through big time with a prawn pasta in a lemon garlic wine sauce that was delicious. In fact, it was so good I told them they could make dinner again next Sunday.

While they were out shopping for dinner, I enjoyed a few hours in the office and have this card to share with you.

A few challenges are combined, including the Curtain Call: Travel On inspiration photo and sketch #185 from Freshly Made Sketches. The map image is stamped first on the white panel, along with a very old MFT sentiment. The Tim Holtz camera blueprint image was stamped onto a white heart die cut and colored with copic markers before being layered on the Smoky Shadow pinked edge heart die cut.

A scrap of patterned paper and piece of film strip ribbon are added as the flag elements. It is hard to see in this photo, but there is a second teal heart layered under the dark gray heart, adding just a touch of extra color.

This card is also being linked to the CASology Week 145: Shape challenge (with the use of the heart shape) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Let's Get Sentimental.
