Maybe it is only the knitters out there that will have the same response as I did. </p><p style="text-align: left;">Unfortunately the design in my head was not coming out on paper so I put it aside, taking another look at the sketch while thinking about Christmas images. And then it came to me that a Christmas cracker was the obvious answer. For the record, even though Christmas crackers are readily available in the US, I don't know anyone here that grew up with them as part of the Christmas feast. As a Canadian with British parents, they are every bit a part of the holidays to me as Santa and stockings.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzm8931VrUK2Iwl9-n8un7R_bFW788AVNJdT2z1q17_c3dCrsb8MxabPuTmR_K9PS68zb7OKSpN5Hxi5cAZj-oOucaPj45nof3QWg_aAdFX_Gy0s-fn6QPbEc2rdybO3yPSBwjyyuPl5sQctnKNoPJdNi5T5MCdAtpqxiRJWvdTo1rLSvYgD2JPyiBhDB_/s3525/CFBF4DA3-80FD-4BF5-B970-251C9EEAE4AA_1_201_a.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3159" data-original-width="3525" height="574" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzm8931VrUK2Iwl9-n8un7R_bFW788AVNJdT2z1q17_c3dCrsb8MxabPuTmR_K9PS68zb7OKSpN5Hxi5cAZj-oOucaPj45nof3QWg_aAdFX_Gy0s-fn6QPbEc2rdybO3yPSBwjyyuPl5sQctnKNoPJdNi5T5MCdAtpqxiRJWvdTo1rLSvYgD2JPyiBhDB_/w640-h574/CFBF4DA3-80FD-4BF5-B970-251C9EEAE4AA_1_201_a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It took a bit of sketching and poking through supplies that haven't seen the light of day in a very long time to come up with my version of a Christmas cracker. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The crepe paper was cut to size using a scalloped edge border die for the base.
