I had a little time today to play around with the Make It Monday #164: Cluster Stamped Sentiment from Heather Nichols. You can check out her video tutorial here and give it a try.
For this card, the Wet Paint Thanks sentiment is stamped with Versamark ink and clear embossed. Two sizes of Sketched Shapes circles and Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal and New Leaf inks create the cluster of color around the sentiment, making it really pop.
I didn't want to keep the shiny embossed finish on the sentiment, so ironed it off and then added avery subtle tounch of glitter with a Wink of Stella pen.
This card came together in minutes, but as I was making it an idea for adding a little dimension came to me. I quickly stamped a second panel and then lined the Building Blocks dies (the four are still wired together) over the sentiment.
It was easy to cut the final two strips, as the first two dies nestled in the openings I had just cut (hope the makes sense). I love that the spacing work well enough to fit a letter on each block! The panel is adhered to a Tropical Teal card base and then the cut strips popped up in the appropriate opening.
So which do you like better?
Thanks for stopping by,
Jacquie
These are such cool cards! LOVE the idea of using the Building Blocks dies to create dimension!
ReplyDeleteIn the simplicity of the most elegant, beautiful delicate card, greetings
ReplyDeleteBrilliant cards, totally love your choices of layout, colour everything.
ReplyDeleteCreative use of the Building Blocks die but I think I like the first one better--both are beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteBoth are awesome--I think you could try the second one without the cluster stamping, perhaps subbing in horizontal stripes of watercolour instead, and see what you think.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - definitely plan on playing around with these dies and happy I left them attached for now :)
Deleteawesome! love the one with the popped up strips!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool, Jacquie! The colors are amazing, but your design is awesome!!!! Love them both so much. Just wonderful. : ) Bev

I love these- the color combo is beautiful, and I LOVE the dimension on your second card!
ReplyDeleteI love them both. Cannot decide. Although the die cut one is more unique, and has sent me over to the PTI web site to order that die! I hope you are staying safe with all these fires. Such scary times, and I am thinking of you and your family.
ReplyDeleteOoh, very interesting. Love the colours you used and the design. When I get the building block dies I'll be sure to keep them wired together to try out your idea.
ReplyDeleteAmazing cards. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteJacquie, both cards are awesome! Now I think I need to add those Building Block Dies to my wishlist.
