Freshly Made Sketches #455

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #455!

The Santa Ana winds from the desert are sending our coastal temperatures over 100ºF this week, so I decided to cool down by replacing the star in Jen Mitchell's fabulous sketch with a snowflake.

The rectangle panels are cut first and then a Stampin Up stencil used with a light molding paste to add the falling snow. The MFT Hand Lettered Holiday sentiment is heat embossed on a vellum strip before a cardstock and vellum SSS Alexis snowflake die cuts are layered on top. A few Pretty Pink Posh jewels finish the design.

CASology Challenge #375!

Welcome to CASology Challenge #375!

You may be wondering how I got to fall leaves with the SPICE cue word for this challenge but it will all make sense when you think of the colors in your spice rack. Mine is full of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, turmeric, curry and mustard which are all represented in these leaves.

The Pretty Pink Posh Fall Borders stamp is selectively inked to fit in the stitched panel and then colored with Copic markers. It is mounted on a wine red panel for a little extra interest and added to a larger stitched rectangle panel. The MFT Well Hello sentiment finishes the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #454

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #454!

I'm thrilled to be hosting this week and hope this classic sketch inspires you to join us!

I drew the sketch knowing I was going to use Copic markers to color this sweet line of pumpkins from the Pretty Pink Posh Fall Borders stamp set before it is fussy cut and mounted on a stitched rectangle. A little twine wrapped around the panel helps ground them and adds a bit of interest.

The Concord & 9th Lace Leaf sentiment is stamped on a gingham panel before the pumpkin panel is popped up over it and added to the card base.

Freshly Made Sketches #453

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #453!

Clean Team designer Judy Rozema has given us a fun sketch to work with this week! I saw the big circle as a wreath and was happy for an excuse to pull out the Pretty Pink Posh Autumn Wreath and a few dozen Copic markers to play around.

I'm really happy with the way this wreath turned out after a few attempts at no line coloring. You don't get to see those 😂.

The die cut wreath is popped up over a woodgrain embossed panel, a tag cut and tied for the small circle element and the sweet heat embossed sentiment added to the middle.

CASology Challenge #374

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #374!

What's your idea of the perfect vacation? I like to split my time between relaxing on a tropical beach and exploring a big city. There is no question my happy place is the beach, especially at sunset.

An MFT Stitched Arch panel is inked to create the sunset before the Paper Smooches Get Outta Town sentiment is added. A simple Lawn Fawn Palm Tree cut in black finishes the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #452

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #452!

My original plan was to use tropical leaves on my card given Amy's fabulous sketch,  but sweltering in a heat wave this past weekend had me longing for my childhood fall that involved a ginormous maple tree in the front yard. I don't miss raking leaves but I do miss the crisp air and changing colors.

Orange and red Distress Inks are used to color a white panel before the Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves are die cut and layered on the Taylored Expressions Brick embossed panel. The sentiment is from Ida Rose You Got This and has been sitting on my desk since it came home with me from Copic Boot Camp in January. I am so grateful to have had that little trip with a few of my crafting friends before the world screeched to a halt a few weeks later.

Freshly Made Sketches #451

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #451!

Narelle is the Clean Team designer responsible for the fabulous sketch the week! I wanted to play with inks and blending brushes so started with the Memory Box Drifting Side Butterfly, just coloring the base layer with pink and orange and layering the detailed white die cut on top.

An MFT stencil and three shades of blue ink created a cloud background before the vertical panels were die cut so that the lines flowed from one panel to the next.  A sweet MFT Greetings and Salutations sentiment heat embossed on a black strip finishes the card.

CASology Challenge #373

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #373!

We have a rather unique word to inspire you for the next two weeks and it really is wide open as to what you do with SEPTEMBER. Maybe there is a September birthday or anniversary in the family, or you are thinking about back to school or looking forward to the change in seasons. Fall in southern California edges out Spring as my favorite season only because we get a little more sunshine than the gray mornings of May and June.

I pulled out my rarely used Brilliance inks and Concord & 9th Give Thanks stamps for this super simple card. The inks add a bit of shimmer and fun.

The design team has fabulous cards!
