CASology + CTS + Simon Says

I have a new baby card to share that pairs the Case This Sketch #138 sketch with the CASology Week 161: Plaid challenges.

For this clean and simple card, Authentique papers were die cut to make the sweet plaid elephant and square frame and a very old Amuse congratulations stamp provides the sentiment.

Papertrey Ink August 2015 Blog Hop

For the August 2015 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, Nichole Heady gave us this gorgeous inspiration photo to start the creative cogs turning and before I knew it, I had two cards to share.

For me, it was the warm color rainbow that jumped out of the photo. Loving this palette, I  inked a white cardstock panel with shades of yellow, orange, pink and red before diecutting it with the Cover Plate: Waves die. The frame portion of the diecut was used as a stencil/guide to adhere the pieces to a white card base.

A Scripted die and stamp are paired to create the sentiment on the largest inked piece.

I didn't have any plans to make a card with the leftover frame part of die cut, but it sat on my desk staring at me for a couple of days and the wheels kept turning in my head. When rotated to a vertical orientation, the lines reminded me of the long ropes of wool drying in the inspiration photo. I decided to experiment with making a shaker card divided into sections based on the wavy lines.

After adhereing a transparency to the inked frame, a second diecut was cut from fun foam. Not all the long wavy pieces were needed, so a few were clipped off where they met the frame, leaving three main sections to fill with microbeads & confetti that reinforced the colors of that section.

It is easy to see from the side angle where the fun foam lines block the beads from moving between the different sections. Some of the smaller enclosed spaces have a few beads as well. The celebrate die cut is adhered at the point where the wavy lines are closest, give the impression that the sentiment is pulling the lines together.

The card on the left came out exactly the way I pictured it in my head after seeing the inspiration photo and the card on the right is a really happy accident. It took me a few days to admit it is the one I like more :)

CASology #160 + CQC #304 + Seize the Birthday

Today I took the CASology Week 160: Number, added the Colour Q Challenge 304 colors and Seize the Birthday Anything the Flies to make this card.

An MFT stencil and Mustard Seed Distress Ink were used to create the sunshine panel inserted into the dark gray Smoky Shadow frame. The birthday portion of the sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on the frame before the die cut is added.

The Avery Elle number balloons are tied to the "happy" to keep them from flying away. Is that stretching the "Anything that Flies" challenge at Seize the Birthday? Thankfully they always have an Anything Goes option.

RIC#90 & Muse #129

Hello there!

I was happy to have some crafting time today and ended up with a couple of cards ready to share. This first card is inspired by the Runway Inspired Challenge #90 and this sweet dress.

A number of small flower & leaf images from a variety of stamp sets were used to create a floral pattern on a white doily before a die cut sentiment was added. The sentiment was cut three times for added dimension, with the dark green bottom layer offset slightly and the top yellow layer covered in glossy accents for a little shine. The lightest gray Soft Stone card base gives a subtle contrast to the white doily.

This second card is inspired by Anita's card for Muse #129.

I followed her design very closely, using two Tim Holtz stencils to create a pattern on the white panel. The burlap stencil is place diagonally on the panel and partially inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, then the Dot Fade stencil is placed diagonally the other way and inked with Mustard Seed Distress Ink.

A PTI die cut provides the popped up sentiment.

The panel is adhered to an Aqua Mist card base.

CTS134 + Simon Says Anything Goes

I was really drawn to the sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch #134 and took some time to play around with a few ideas today. In the end, the sketch is flipped with the speech bubble going in the upper left corner instead of the lower right.

The sentiment is finished with a couple of stamps curved along the edge of the die cut and then heat embossed.
