Freshly Made Sketches #524

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #524!

I was inspired by both the sketch and designer Cécile Ribon's elegant use of threads and stitching on her cards for my design this week.

A simple heart is cross-stitched on a scrap of Aida cloth first. Before it is stitched to the panel, the Paper Rose Designs Knit Happens sentiment is heat embossed on the panel.

The center of the Aida piece is adhered to the panel and a few guide holes punched to keep the stitching neat and tidy.

CASology Challenge #400 Reminder Post: AFFECTION

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #400!

I'm dropping in with a card for the February CASology Challenge #400 reminder post. An unexpected eye surgery at the beginning of the year has kept me sidelined for a few weeks and I am thrilled to be getting back to so many activities I took for granted!

My original plans were to make something Valentine related for the AFFECTION cue word, but it was an easy pivot to a thank you card.

The Simply Graphic Planche Bouquets images are layered and heat embossed on watercolor paper, along with a Simply Graphic English Sentiment. Zig Real Brush markers add a light touch of color to the water and roses.

For little extra interest the dry panel is cut with an MFT Stitched Mini-scallop Rectangle die and popped up on the card base.

Check out the terrific design team cards and play along with us!

We are looking forward to seeing how AFFECTION inspires you - just remember to keep it Clean & Simple! This is a month long challenge, so you have until 9 AM Monday, February 28th (CMT) to link your card to the CASology blog.

Freshly Made Sketches #523

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #523!

I had an idea for the three circle elements in this great sketch from Jennifer Brum so ventured into the craft room for the first time since mid-December.

The Lawn Fawn Chit Chat stamps and dies are used to make a trio of speech bubbles that are lined up on an MFT frame die cut.

The center of the frame is heart embossed for interest and another sweet sentiment from Altenew Figure Effects finishes off the multiple sentiments.

My left eye has kept me out of the craft room and on restricted activities for weeks so it feels great to finally inch toward normal again!

I hope you check out the Clean Team cards and play along with us this week at Freshly Made Sketches this week.
