Freshly Made Sketches #516

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #516!

As I am still turning out a few last minute Christmas cards, I saw Clean Team designer Narelle Farrugia's sketch as a trio of ornaments or cookies, but almost veered into another birthday card with balloons. This really is a fabulous sketch and I'm excited to see the gallery fill up over the next couple weeks!

As you can see, The Stamp Market Love & Cookies won the battle. The star, circle and tree cookies were stamped and die cut before being frosted with Nuvo drops. They are stacked on a white panel covered with Birch Press Designs Shimmer Lines Washi tape. I love the touch of glimmer and thought it echoed the idea of cookies on a cooling rack.

I hope you check out the terrific Clean Team designs and play along with us. You have a little extra time as this challenge is extended to Monday, January 3rd!

Freshly Made Sketches #515

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #515!

We interrupt the holiday card production for my annual panic over needing a couple masculine birthday cards for my December birthday boy. I love the panels Clean Team designer Karren Johnson provided in her great sketch, although I took a little creative license to use the small panel for my sentiment.

The main part of the sentiment is cut from a long hoarded specialty wood paper, with Lawn Fawn gray woodgrain paper and a woodgrain embossing folder used to support the theme.

The top part of the card was looking a little bare, so a selectively cut Memory Box Fresh Pine Landscape die came to the the rescue to provide a forest.

CASology Challenge #398

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #398!

This is going to be a fun month with such a diverse cue word! Clouds, hot air balloons, balloons, streamers, stars and the sun were all in the mix until the unexpected On Dasher, On Dancer stamp came in a Taylored Expressions order. Free extras are always a treat and this was just too perfect for the challenge to ignore!

The image is stamped on a white panel first. The Memory Box Fresh Pine Landscape die is cut next and then partially cut to the same size as the stamped panel with trees left to overhang on each side. The PTI December Typed Words sentiment is added before the tree panel is adhered over the flying Santa panel. For the tiniest touch of color, a Nuvo drop adds a red nose to the first reindeer.

Check out the fun design team cards!

Freshly Made Sketches #514

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #514!

The elegant Clean Team designer Cécile Ribon has given us a super versatile sketch this week! I'm still plugging away with Christmas cards, so started looking through ornament images for the circle element.

The Memory Box Cabrini Ornament is cut from glitter paper first and then the holly leaves and berries were cut again from scraps for a pop of color.  A quick search on my Evernote inventory identified a slightly smaller holly die in the MFT Christmas Ornament die set that worked for the extra leaves and the berry is a leftover bit from a tag die cut.

A heat embossed PTI Traveler's Journal December Typed Words sentiment finishes the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #513

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #513!

Clean Team designer Jennifer Brum is the creative genius behind the sketch this week! There are so many great images that are perfect for the circle element, especially if you are knee deep in holiday cards like me.

The MFT Snow Globe sentiment is stamped on the white panel first, then snow embossed and cut with a wonky stitched rectangle die.

The bird pair from MFT Tweet Holidays stamp set is perfect for the circle element. The image is colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and popped up over a black sentiment strip.

Freshly Made Sketches #512

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #512!

Clean Team designer Kim Singdahlsen has given us the sweetest sketch this week! I pulled out the smaller  Memory Box Star of Wonder die to use for the tree element and thought about what I wanted to do with the horizontal lines for a few days.

I have a bowl on my desk that holds little stars left over from other projects and realized there was enough gold shimmer bits to create an anchoring line for the big star.  I'd already watercolored the splash of purpley blue sky to back the big star so ran a light touch of color to add a couple horizontal lines. Once the panel was dry, the PTI December Typed Words sentiment is split between the top two lines and the metallic gold star popped up last.

Freshly Made Sketches #511

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #511!

Clean Team designer Linda Callahan has given us a super sketch to work with this week! I decided to pair the negative space of a Memory Box Snowflake Joy die cut with patterned paper to make a my center panel.

The Joy panel is popped up over the pretty plaid and then the full snowflake die cut is popped back into the opening. A Kerri Bradford Studios Wonderland sentiment is heat embossed on a scrap of red paper from the same paper pad to add a little extra layer and interest to the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #510

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #510!

The fabulous Jen Mitchell designed our sketch this week and a quick glance through my stamps had me reaching for the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Wreath as the circle element.

Somehow I ended up coloring a nontraditional Christmas rainbow of colors with Copic markers, so went with my favorite aqua cardstock for the horizontal band. The heat embossed sentiment fits perfectly in the middle of the wreath.

CASology Challenge #397

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #397!

We have a fun new word for you to play with this month!

I went looking for an older Teresa Collins paper pad that I knew had rows of the prettiest red typewriters and paired it with an MFT Well Hello sentiment.

We have a couple changes on the CASology Design Team, with Milka moving on and Åsa joining us.

Freshly Made Sketches #509

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #509!

Clean Team designer Jennifer Timko has given us a fun slimline sketch to work with this week. I played around with a few ideas, all involving snowflakes, before deciding to make the squares into three individual shaker boxes.

Three squares were cut from the scalloped edge panel first and then the three MFT Stitched Square Scallop frames die cuts were adhered to frame the openings. A transparency is adhered to the back of the panel and then foam adhesive added to frame the shaker boxes. The sequins, coarse glitter and snowflakes were piled on the card base and then the white panel added to seal them into place.

A trio of older Taylored Expressions snowflakes and platinum embossed sentiment  finish the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #508

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #508!

I'm excited to be hosting the challenge this week and created this sketch with a borrowed stamp in mind.

A couple of weeks ago I had a long overdue crafting day with friends and fell in love with the  CAS-ual Fridays Flowery Background stamp. Joyce Mehrberg generously let me take it home to play around a bit with heat embossing and watercoloring this fabulous explosion of flowers.

A deep pink panel is cut in half and adhered to the top and bottom of the card base first before the watercolored panel is popped up over it. The Avery Elle Thanks a Bunch sentiment is stamped on a PTI
tag, layered with a couple other tags and tied with twine before being added to the watercolored panel.

I'm linking this card to Seize the Birthday #225 in the Anything Goes option.

Freshly Made Sketches #507

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #507!

The sketch this week is provided by the talented Clean Team Designer, Judy Rozema. I love the way she placed the large circle and banner element extending past the center panel!

I saw the circles as flowers and pulled out Poppystamps Blooming Poinsettia and Small Blooming Poinsettia dies and started cutting red cardstock. I love that these dies can work together and used the medium and small layers of the first set with the largest layer from the smaller set to make the big flower.

An MFT Bitty Holiday Wishes sentiment is heat embossed on the black banner and layered over the large poinsettia. The smaller flower is added along with a few Pretty Pink Posh jewels to add a festive finish to the design.

Freshly Made Sketches #506

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #506!

Diagonal lines in a sketch are always a bit of a challenge for me, but I have to thank Clean Team designer Amy O'Neill for pushing me out of my comfort zone this week. I really love the way this design turned out.

The Simon Says Stamp Alexis snowflake die is cut three times and layered with a white cardstock base, a vellum center and a glitter cardstock top. My first thought was to run diagonal lines of smaller snowflakes but I didn't like the look and decided to play around with the vellum.

The Stamp Market Quick Strip dies were used to cut 1/2 inch vellum strips and 1/8 inch glitter paper strips that were alternated to form the diagonal panel. An MFT Snow Globe Sentiment is heat embossed on the last vellum strip before it was added to the panel.

A few smaller glitter paper snowflakes cut for Plan A finish this design.

CASology Challenge #396: VIEW

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #396!

I am excited to see how the cue word inspires you this month! Do you think of the view through a window, your favorite view, a seasonal view or something else? Don't overthink the cue word, even the view of a birthday candle, cake or balloon works.

I was inspired by a few Kerri Bradford stamps sets to create a simple design highlighting some of my favorite views at one of my favorite places: palm trees and waves in the sunshine at the beach.

The sentiment from Waves is stamped first and then surrounded with pops of color from the palm tree and waves stamps from the Southern California set. The sun came from a BoBunny Adventure Icons stamp set. The stamped panel is cut with an MFT Wonky Stitched Square die before being popped up on the aqua card base.

Check out the fabulous design team cards!

Freshly Made Sketches #505

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #505!

Clean Team designer Narelle Farrugia provided our fun sketch this week. She is truly the queen of fabulous layered designs so I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone this week.

I cut the circles and Poppystamps Silver Bells first and then went looking for a foliage die. The Poppystamps Holiday Mistletoe die cut three times allowed me to selectively trim and layer the colors and pieces to make a swag to hang on the wood panel circle.

A few swipes of pale blue and cool gray Copic markers added enough shading to the Lawn Fawn Sparkle Pixie Dust bell inside pieces to create dimension. An MFT Bitty Holiday Wishes sentiment and a few tiny sequins finish the design.

I hope you check out the terrific Clean Team designs and play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
