Freshly Made Sketches #479

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches 479!

Kim designed the perfect sketch to highlight a new stencil and the sentiment stamp I didn't use on the card posted yesterday. Knitting is probably my first crafting love. Even though I can go years between projects, I always come back to my needles.

A while ago I searched for anything "knit" related in the papercrafting world and discovered this fun Carabelle Studio Tricot stencil. Molding paste inked with a touch of Kitsch Flamingo Distress Ink is stenciled onto to a light pink panel.

The Sugar Peas Knit Wit sentiment and image are layered and colored with Copic markers while the panel dried. The vertical panel is replaced with a length of fiber wrapped around the main panel several times and tied off just below the sentiment panel.

CASology Challenge #387: COMFORT

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #387!

I anticipate get well and sympathy cards filling the gallery this week! I took a slightly different route, making a card to thank a friend for always being there and giving me comfort during this extra challenging year.

The sweet knit heart is found in Sugar Peas Knit Wit stamp set which also has the same sentiment, but I pulled this one from Paper Roses Knit Happens instead. Copic Markers were used to color the ombre stripes and an MFT Stitched Scalloped Rectangle die gives a little extra interest to the panel.

The design team has fabulous cards this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #478

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #478!

Designer Jennifer Timko created a terrific sketch that was perfect for pairing this sweet Simply Graphic die with a little patterned paper.

The sentiment from Ali Edwards Roam stamp set is stamped on the kraft panel first and then partially inked PTI World Map image added to provide a little more interest and a base for the pieced van. When adding the kraft panel to the patterned paper I liked having a little bit of the green peeking out at the top so left it showing.

This card is perfect for my husband and I'm sure one of the kids will snag it from the pile for Father's Day.

I hope you check out the Clean Team cards for more inspiration and join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #477

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #477!

The square focal panel of Jen M's fabulous design, a new Simply Graphic die and five friends selling houses this week conspired to influence me into making a card that could be given to someone buying or selling a home.

The house is cut three times using two shades of Lawn Fawn Woodgrain cardstock and a scrap of red felt. The MFT Greetings & Salutations sentiment is heat embossed on the aqua panel before the house is assembled and adhered. It's always a challenge to match whites on a project and I was a little frustrated that the white embossing definitely took on a cream tone.

A square of the white woodgrain paper is cut along a diagonal line and adhered to the gray card base. I love the way the simple cut line adds interest to the design.

CASology Challenge #386

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #386!

I love a cue word that can be interpreted so many ways and I gave a nod to a few of them with this design. The lovely dark gray Simply Graphic skyline is one long line and references my longing to travel and visit cities I love.

The Altenew Figure Effects sentiment references the passage of time and is stamped in aqua ink for a pop of color and interest. And maybe because some of my favorite cities seem to be on the water.

The design team has fabulous creations!

Freshly Made Sketches #476

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #476!

I admit I fluffed it with Linda's great sketch this week, thinking I had the design solidly in my head and not checking again before adhering all my bits and pieces, so the diagonal line isn't quite as sharp as I could have made it.

With my dad's birthday coming up, I've depleted the always small stack of masculine cards ready to go, so decided to keep this design super clean and simple. A Taylored Expressions embossing folder adds a bit of interest and reinforces the musical theme started with the Poppystamps Happy Birthday Melody die. The large PTI balloon adds a bright pop of color.

The Clean Team has fabulous cards this week! I hope you are inspired to play along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

I'm linking this card to Seize the Birthday #209 (Anything Goes) and Time Out Challenges, where they are celebrating their 7th Birthday with Challenge #182!

Freshly Made Sketches #475

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #475!

I'm hosting the challenge this week and created a sketch with three panels because I wanted to use the adorable Poppystamps Bunny Ears on an Easter card. My design took quite a few twists and turns, getting more and more complicated until I took a step back and walked away for a while.

It was a quick flip through my stencils that triggered a completely different idea of backing the brightly inked eggs with a lighter colored ink splat. Each egg is layered with a white egg to lift them out of the ink and give the bunny ears a little more room to flap around.

A sweet sentiment from Papertrey Ink Simply Spring Borders finishes the design.

CASology Challenge #385

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #385!

I expect to see a few shamrocks and pots of gold at the end of a rainbow in the gallery this week! For my card, I pulled out Mama Elephant's Friend Indeed stamp set and a variety of embossing powders.

I sprinkled two shades of green embossing powder over the stamped word and then added a layer of clear gold embossing powder before heating it all up. I couldn't get a photo of the gold, but it is there, adding a little extra glimmer to the design.

A few green sequins were all that was needed to finish the card.

Check out the fantastic design team for more ideas!
