Freshly Made Sketches #459

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #459!

Jennifer Brum had designed a very fun sketch for us this week! The bottom panels reminded me of tissue paper wrapped around a bouquet and I went with that idea, morphing it into an explosion of holiday foliage instead of a bouquet.

Papertrey Ink Spruces and Sprigs images were stamped and cut first, then a few extra die cuts made with cardstock and shimmer cardstock to help fill out the vellum pocket.

Kerry Bradford Bundle Up stamp set provided the sentiment and it is attached with a simple pearl.

I hope you check out the fabulous Clean Team designs at Freshly Made Sketches and play along with us this week!

CASology Challenge #377

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #377!

I love the color explosion of a great sunset and have been hoping for years to see the green flash that is present about ten minutes before the sun goes over the horizon. I hadn't heard of this phenomenon before living in San Diego, but our vast uninterrupted ocean horizon apparently makes it more common to see.

A circle of Mustard Seed Distress Ink is blended on a very light gray panel, before a bit of Marmalade Spice Distress Ink is added to the top portion and the Simon Says Stamp All Seasons Tree die cut is adhered over it.

As you can see, most of the leaves are not adhered to the panel, adding a bit of dimension and interest to the design. The Altenew Thinking of You sentiment finishes the card.

The design team has terrific cards to inspire you!

Freshly Made Sketches #458

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #458!

I am in love with Kim's fabulous sketch this week! I immediately saw the five panels as five letters and spend more time than I should admit deciding whether to make a birthday or holiday card. As you can see, Christmas won out this week.

Of course, I also spent more time than I should admit deciding what colors to use for The Stamp Market Chunky Alphabet letters and ended up stacking a three color ombre for each letter with a different shade of pink and aqua at the top. The Hero Arts Merry sentiment is stamped on the rectangle panel first and then it is embossed with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder.

A couple snowflake die cuts were adhered to the card base and the panel popped up over them. A scattering of smaller snowflakes and a bit of Wink of Stella on the letters finish this card.

I hope you check out the terrific Clean Team designs at Freshly Made Sketches and join in the fun this week!

Freshly Made Sketches #457

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #457!

Linda has give us a great layered design to work with this week! I have been wanting to use The Stamp Market Greenery dies for a while and thought this center panel would be a great place to showcase them.

I cut a few die cuts in fall colors and played around a bit with layering them on the linen embossed panel. My first plan was to dry emboss the second panel until I became distracted by a discarded stenciled panel leftover from another project. The stenciled panel is cut down to fit the sketch and the MFT Essential Sentiments message is heat embossed and popped up over the greenery.

CASology Challenge #376!

 Welcome to CASology Challenge #376!

I admit the Cue word this week initially threw me for a loop. I relaxed a bit when realizing DRY embossing a panel would satisfy the challenge and then the ideas really started flowing. Did I want to create something for a dry martini loving friend? or my dry wine loving friends? put baby clothes on the line to dry? play with the texture of dry autumn leaves? As you can see, the leaves won this week.

A leaf embossing folder provides texture and interest for the trio of colored vellum Lawn Fawn stitched leaves. The simple MFT Greetings and Salutations sentiment reflects that leaves falling right now weren't even on the trees last time we saw so many friends.
We are looking forward to seeing how DRY inspires you - just remember to keep it Clean & Simple! This is a two  week challenge, so you have until 9 AM Monday, October 26th (CMT) to link your card to the CASology blog.

Freshly Made Sketches #456

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches #456!

This was a week when I wasn't sure my creative mojo was going to show up and I really struggled to get the idea in my head on to paper. I knew I wanted to make a card congratulating a nephew and his fiance on buying their first home so started with coloring the Concord & 9th City Stacks houses to match their new neighborhood.

It wasn't until I pulled out the heart dies that the design finally came together. A Memory Box Heart Wave anchors the house panel, a few leftover tiny hearts from a PTI Notched Hearts tag die cut provide a little chimney smoke and a larger soft pink heart fills the corner element.

I hope you check out the terrific design team cards and join us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
