CASology Week 285: SWOON

Welcome to Week 285 at CASology!

Have you ever had that lightheaded, heart-racing feeling that results in fainting? Whether it is because of a fear of needles, the sight of blood or being overwhelmed by feelings of love, you have experienced swooning. With Valentine's Day coming up, I went with a love theme for my card.

The MFT Keep on Rocking' sentiment is stamped first and then a mask created from a heart die cut is used to ink Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries Distress Inks onto the panel. The heart portion of the heartbeat is covered with Glossy Accents which helped intensify the color and make it stand out.

The design team has terrific ideas for you to check out!

Papertrey Ink January 2018 Blog Hop + Muse #250 + SSS Layers

I'm sharing a card inspired by a few different challenges today. First, this pretty birthday scene for the Papertrey Inky January 2018 Blog Hop.

I took elements from this photo and added elements from Muse Challenge #250.  Kim's open circles to one balloon shaker filled with large embossed polka dots.

Kim Heggins

The iridescent confetti filled PTI Balloon Shaker was made first and slipped into a cutout on the pink Tipped Top angled panel. Another Topped Top white die cut is embossed with large polka dots and adhered to the card base.

Before the pink panel is adhered, the One Big Happy birthday sentiment is stamped and embossed and the die cut happy added.

I'm also linking this card to the Wednesday Challenge Blog where Simon Says Layer It Up this week and Seize the Birthday in their Anything Goes category.

Fusion Coffee & a Book + Simon Says Layer It Up

I love the cozy inspiration photo from Fusion: Coffee and a Book and used it to make a card heading off to a friend recovering from surgery.

The stripes from the blanket are echoed with the embossed lines of coffee cups and the embossed knit pattern on the Memory Box Coffee On The Go die cut. I've been cleaning out the office and came across an old dictionary and used that to cut the cozy for my cup.

SSS Sending & Wishing stamps and dies are used to create the sentiment.

CASology Week 284: LATE

Welcome to Week 284 at CASology!

Are you a fan of letterboards? I'm a longtime fan going back to my kids' elementary school days when I volunteered to maintain the school readerboard. I'd managed to resist buying one until faced with them at a Christmas craft show and now all members of the family are having fun with it.

It is my letterboard that inspired this birthday card for the cue word LATE. As soon as I saw the word, my mind went to "oops, I did it again" and I just couldn't shake the sentiment for a belated birthday card.  I'm so sorry if you now hear Britney Spears singing in your head.

A black panel was scored at 1/4" intervals to replicate the felt panel of a letterboard and MFT High-rise and Little Letters die cut to create the sentiment. An MFT frame die cut first perfectly over the panel to finish the card.

I hope you saw Melissa's post announcing the three new design team members. Karen Haman is posting a card this week and Kevin Bray and Bharati Nayuda will join us with their first cards next week!

Twofer #1 + CTS #254 + CTD #476 + Simon Says Add a Sentiment

I was thrilled to see Feathers as the inaugural challenge at the new challenge, Twofer Card Challenge.   The challenge is to use the same stamp or die on two cards for different occasions and with different designs.

The biggest part of the challenge may have been deciding which feather images to use, but I finally picked my Spellbinders dies because I love the shapes & detailed impressions in these feathers.

This first card is a sympathy card made using the design from CAS(E) This Sketch #254 and colors from Color Throwdown #476.

The largest feather die is cut from watercolor paper lightly colored with Zig markers. A couple of white feathers are also die cut, along with an MFT mini-scalloped circle frame and several banners. The sentiment is from PTI With Sympathy.

The second card uses the same three dies as the first card, along with two more, to cut feathers from a brightly colored watercolor paper panel.

A sentiment from PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthdays is stamped on the panel before the feathers are adhered. Just a touch of glue is used at the center of each feather so that have a bit of lift and add dimension to the card.

I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog where Simon Says Add a Sentiment this week.

CASology Week 283: GLIMMER

Welcome to Week 283 at CASology!

STAMPlorations is our sponsor this week and I am one of the lucky design team members to receive a stamp set to use on my card. I love the outline letters on the Big Greetings - Shery Russ Designs sentiments and initially stamped the "happy" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in the letters with a rainbow selection of Copic markers.

The sentiment is stamped again with Versamark ink and heat embossed with a holographic embossing powder, adding a bit of GLIMMER to the card. The enamel dots also reinforce the glimmer cue word as their shimmery finish catches the light.

The design team has fabulous interpretations of the word GLIMMER!

CASology Week 282: HUG

Welcome to Week 282 at CASology!

At first glance, this may look like a Valentine's Day card but I'm using it as a birthday card to send virtual hugs & kisses along with happy birthday wishes. Why just send one hug when I can send a couple, along with kisses, by using an abbreviated image to send the message?

The Lawn Fawn Scripty XOXO is die cut from a white panel and backed with a piece of transparency. Foam adhesive is added to the back, creating the walls for an empty space behind the die cut to hold the red micro beads and irridescent pink heart confetti. When creating a shaker space like this, run a Qtip dipped in talcum powder along the inside edge of the foam adhesive to stop the beads from adhering to the foam.

Check out the design team cards for wonderful inspiration!

CASology Week 281: ENCOURAGE

Welcome to Week 281 at CASology!

I hope everyone survived the holidays, had a happy New Year and is eager to get back to some creating! We have a couple of changes to the CASology design team as Judy Marino and Sherrie Mannion have decided to step down. Their creative talent will be missed, but this does open an opportunity for you to apply to join the team! Melissa has posted all the details for the Design Team Call on the CASology blog. Please take a look and consider applying by the January 12 deadline.

For my card this week, I thought about how a few friends and I are renewing health & wellness goals that were ignored over that last couple months. This card will be going to one of them in a few weeks for a little extra encouragement.

The Mama Elephant sentiment was stamped first with teal and black inks and then the PTI vase and greenery added. The panel is popped up on a white card base for a little extra interest.

Check out the beautiful design team cards for more great ideas!
