CASology Week 268: FORTUNE

Welcome to Week 268 at CASology!

There are a few ways to take this cue word and I think it will be a fun gallery this week.  Was your first thought wealth, luck or predicting the future? I went with predicting the future and used a circle die and snowglobe base to make a crystal ball to house the Avery Elle birthday sentiment.

The ball is watercolored with Zig markers to create a background from which the sentiment appears. The finished crystal ball is popped up on the card base with foam adhesive.

For more fun takes on this cue word, check out the Design Team cards!

CASology Week 267: BIG

Welcome to Week 267 at CASology!

I tossed around a few ideas for the cue word this week. Should I go with a big font size? A sentiment with the word BIG in it? In the end this big MFT headphones die won me over and a birthday card for one of my kids or their friends was created quickly.

The Sizzix embossing folder added a bit of interest and provided a base for the sentiment and die cut.

Check out the Design Team cards for more great ideas!

CASology Week 266: CAKE

Welcome to Week 266 at CASology!

It's going to be a party in the gallery this week with CAKE as our cue word! Lawn Fawn's Bake Me a Cake provided the stamps needed to build this tiered birthday cake. I love the sketchy feel of this stamp set and paired the cake with a couple of sentiments from CAS-ual Fridays' Woot Woot stamp set.

The lemon frosting, cake stand and candle flames are all swiped with Wink of Stella for a little glitter and shine.

The Design Team has terrific cards for you to check out this week!

CASology Week 265: EDUCATION

Welcome to Week 265 at CASology!

For many of us in North America, the first Tuesday in September is also the first day of school after summer vacation. It wasn't until we moved to California that I realized in some areas schools go back in session much earlier and finally understood why major retailers had back to school sales in July!

I have two young adults in college this year and EDUCATION is all about hitting the books. For this card a computer generated sentiment is printed on a white panel and then the Pinkfresh Studio Bibliophile bookshelf image added.

The books are colored with Copic markers and the panel popped up on the card base for added interest.

The Design Team is always amazing!

Curtain Call Dreamcatcher + CTS237 + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says

After posting my feather card last night I was poking around the internet and discovered the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge for September 1 is Dreamcatcher.

I immediately painted another piece of watercolor paper with Zig markers, this time using pink and red pens, to create an ombre panel. While the panel dried, I pulled out a scalloped circle frame that I'd cut months ago at a retreat when I had access to a friend's dies. This is layered on a woodgrain embossed panel.

The Spellbinders feathers are cut from the watercolored panel and adhered together to make a matching pair of clusters. These are added to the woodgrain panel before the PTI birthday sentiment is stamped on an MFT banner die cut and popped up over them.

It isn't a dreamcatcher, but pulls most of the elements from the inspiration photo. The card is inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch #237 and is also being linked to Seize the Birthday Anything Goes and the Wednesday Challenge Blog Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp.

CAS(E) This Sketch #237 + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says Anything Goes

Chrissy has given us a cool sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch #237. I'll admit it initially stumped me, but I couldn't get it out of my head. The ombre is where I started, using Zig markers to color a piece of watercolor paper with purple and blues. One the panel was dry, Spellbinders feathers were die cut and adhered together to create a couple of trios.

The feathers are adhered to a white card base and a simple PTI sentiment banner popped up over them.

I'm also linking this card to the Anything Goes option at Seize the Birthday and to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Anything Goes this week.

Muse #231 + Simon Says Anything Goes

As soon as I saw Cat Craig's beautiful card as the Guest Designer for Muse #231, I knew I was going to watercolor this lovely Avery Elle Mother's Day stamp.

After heat embossing the image on watercolor paper, Zig Real Brush Markers were used to color in the images using a similar color palette to Cat.

A colored a wash of pale blue around the image and then stamped the Altenew Painted Greetings sentiment.

This card is also being linked to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Anything Goes this week.
