Muse #189 + FMS260 + Seize the Birthday & MCV#68 + JUGS#367 + SSS Anything Goes

Happy Saturday! I was lucky enough to have some quiet time in the office this morning and ended up with a couple of cards for a variety of challenges.

This first card is inspired by Guest Designer Lucille's donut card for Muse #189 and the sketch for Freshly Made Sketches #260.

The sweet donut die cut from Reverse Confetti is paired with an Avery Elle sentiment. A few extra sprinkles are scattered on the banner before it is popped up on a large dot embossed panel.

This card is also being linked to Seize the Birthday in the Anything Goes category.

  

This second card was inspired by another Guest Muse, Jeanne Jachna, for Muse Christmas Visions #68, along with the Just Us Girls #376 Wild Card Week with the challenge to make the sentiment the focal point of the card.

Inspired by Jeanne's brightly colored color block panels and white inlaid dies, the front of the card base was inked with Picked Rasberry and Festive Berries Distress inks. A panel is die cut with the Memory Box Merry Christmas Channel dies, the sentiment masked and then the rest of the die cut also inked. 

A trio of Paper Smooches snowflakes die cuts are made on this panel. Once adhered to the card base white snowflakes are adhered and a couple of sequins added to finish off the card.

Papertrey Ink October 2016 Blog Hop

Nicole Heady has done it again, giving us a beautiful fall image to inspire the creation of a card. You can find all the details of the Blog Hop here.

For this card, Leave It Be leaves were die cut from a watercolored panel and the veins stamped on with images from the matching stamp set. Both the brown veins and the hemp bow tying three of the leaves together are my nod to the twiggy branches in the inspiration photo.

A background sheet music image is stamped on Fresh Snow Linen Cardstock with Soft Stone ink and then the sentiment is added from the Scripted stamp set before being cut into the banner shape. This banner is then matted with a Scarlet Jewel banner.

The embellished banner is popped up on a Soft Stone woodgrain embossed panel and then to a Soft Stone card base.

A few enamel dots were added to finish the card off, reminding me of the berries and nuts in the photo.

CASology Week 221: CURE

Welcome to Week 221 at CASology!

I wish we had a cure for all the scary health diagnosis hitting friends and family, but sometimes all we can offer is hugs.

For this card, I stamped the PTI Big Hugs image in pink first and then finished the sentiment in black. I wanted to keep the sentiment as the focal point so die cut it with a mini-scalloped stitched circle die and popped it up on the card base.

Before adhering the circle, spun Sugar Distress Ink was lightly sponged on the card base to help the sentiment circle pop a bit more. A few pink gems and sequins add a bit of interest.

CASology Week 220: COFFEE

Welcome to Week 220 at CASology!

I have a feeling this is going to be a popular Cue word! I love this large Coffee on the Go die from Memory Box and paired it with a sentiment from Paper Smooches Cyber Cafe stamp set. Stamping the sentiment directly onto the cup helps preserve the white space and keep the design clean & simple.

For a little added interest, a Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaf die cut is inset in the coffee sleeve.

CHA October Blog Hop Winner & FMS258 + CTD414 + Seize the Birthday

Before getting to my card, I want to congratulate Verna Angerhofer, the winner of my giveaway during the Craft Hoarders Anonymous October Blog Hop!

I put off announcing the winner until I could find time to make a card to include in the post, and, unfortunately, that didn't happen until late this afternoon. Is it just me, or is the sun disappearing awfully early these days?

Color Throwdown #414 has one of my favorite color palettes this week and it is paired with Freshly Made Sketches #258 to create this card. The inspiration photo for the Color Throwdown also inspired me to pull out a SSS Berkshire Leaf Outline Border to use as the banner in the sketch.

A woodgrain embossing folder adds texture and the sweet sentiment banner is wrapped around one edge of the popped up aqua panel.

CASology Week 219: SPOOKY

Welcome to Week 219 at CASology!

We have a fun word this week just in time for Halloween! I took a very liberal interpretation on the word SPOOKY and pulled out the Lawn Fawn Monster Mash stamp set to create a card with these more cute than spooky monsters.

Stamping and masking four of the images allowed me to create a tight cluster of brightly colored monsters above the sentiment. A fifth monster is die cut and adhered to the edge of the circle, adding a little more interest to the card.

Muse #186 + Seize the Birthday and CTS193 + CQC362 + LIM297

I am sharing a couple of cards for a few different challenges today.

I loved Anita's card for Muse #186 as soon as I saw it and pretty much copied the design completely for my card.

 

I did change the color palette and dimensions of the panels a bit, but followed Anita's lead in cutting a leaf image from the kraft panel allowing the patterned paper to show through and adding a third leaf in vellum.

The kraft leaf is edged with Scattered Straw Distress Powder which has more of a uneven, rustic finish than traditional embossing powders. A PTI Stylish Sentiment birthday sentiment finishes this card off.

This card is also being entered in the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday.

This second card has been brewing for a few days. First, I knew I wanted to use the colors from Colour Q Challenge #362, then I saw the super sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch #362 , but it wasn't until I saw Less Is More #297 One Layer Card with a Dream theme that it all came together.

How does this card fit in the Dream theme? It is heading to a dear niece who is fulfilling her travel dreams and heading to Europe for a few months. She is going to be based in a corner of France near the Swiss border, which had me pulling out this happy Bonjour! sentiment.

If you are here regularly, you know that one layer cards are not my strength. It took a little thought to plan this one out, but a mask was made for the wrap and positioned on the card base first, then the sides taped off and the Spun Sugar Distress Ink added.

When the mask & tape were removed, the images from PTI Fresh Floral Wrap-Ups were added. The Delicata Silver Shimmer ink adds a gorgeous glimmer without heat embossing.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous October Blog Hop

After taking the summer off, the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Hop is back! The Designers this quarter are concentrating on fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas or winter projects. Did you catch that? With everyone's busy schedule, the team has decided to move to a quarterly Hop from now on. To help celebrate our return I have a small giveaway you can read about at the end of the post.

For my project, I finally unwrapped a Graphic 45 Kraftboard Altered Art Box with Album that I have hoarded for a while.

After applying a light coat of chartreuse paint to all sides of the box and inking the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink, a piece of patterned paper was added to each panel.

The accordian style book that came in the box was put aside to make a new one using a mix of cardstock, patterned acetate and patterned papers. 

Five pieces were cut to 9" x 7.75", scored in the center at 4.5" and stacked together.  The sixth piece was cut to the same size, but scored at 2.25" and 6.75". The first score line is the center point for ths piece.

A hole was punched at the top and bottom of the pages on the fold line. By folding each piece in half, it was easy to punch the third hole in the center. A piece of red Baker's twine is laced through the holes to bind the book.

Having the two ends pieces on the outside of the acetate page allowed the green silk ribbon to be tied in place.

The end pieces were then poked back through the middle hole and knotted at the center of the album.

I won't finish off this album until I have my photos in place, but I have been going through my Christmas embellishments so they are ready to be added.

I put some of my embellishments aside to send to one lucky reader. Included is a new pack of 12 tags from Pink Paislee, six Tim Holtz Holiday flash cards, a couple of Pretty Little Studio bingo cards, pearl sprays and frosted leaves, candy cane confetti, reindeer paper clips and a selection of metal pieces.
