CASology Week 217: CUTE

Welcome to Week 217 at CASology!

I think you are really going to enjoy our cue word this week! I picked this CUTE Panda image from this week's sponsor, Kitty Bee Designs, to use on my card.

The digital image is printed on white cardstock then cut with a stitched rectangle die. The lines of the SSS You diecut nestle nicely into the sides of my sweet panda and a coordinating sentiment is stamped directly on the panel. This image panel is popped up on a green embossed panel that is attached to the card base. The wiggly embossed lines made me think of a stand of bamboo.

CASology Week 216: FRAME

Welcome to Week 216 at CASology!

We have another fun word to inspire you this week: FRAME. My first thought was to use a window frame die as the focal point of my card, but after searching high and low in the office, the die was nowhere to be found so I moved onto Plan B and started looking at my nesting die sets. Taping two Nestabilities Labels 2 dies on a piece of lime cardstock allowed me to cut a frame with one pass through my Big Shot.

A white frame in the same way, stacking the outer frames to give a little more depth and stamping a Technique Tuesday sentiment in the center piece. The stamped center is embossed before being adhered to the card base. A trio of enamel dots add a bit more color and interest to the card.

CASology week 215: BARK

Welcome to Week 215 at CASology!

When you saw our cue word this week is BARK, did you think tree or dog first?  My first thought was tree and I started looking through my tree, branch and woodgrain dies, stamps and embossing folders for inspiration, settling on a Sizzix woodgrain embossing folder to take center stage.

After the gray panel is embossed, a sentiment cluster is created with a stamped banner and a trio of MFT leaves.

Check out the Design Team cards for more terrific BARK ideas!

This is a unique Hop between many of your favorite Challenge Blogs and Altenew! For details and a complete list of participating challenges and how to win some awesome prizes, please head over to the CASology.

I pulled out a couple of my favorite Altenew stamps sets, Painted Flowers and Label Love, to make this CAS card.

The flower & leaf outline images are stamped and heat embossed on a watercolor paper panel and then watercolored with Zig Real Brush markers. The label sentiment is stamped on a white cardstock scrap, heat embossed and trimmed before being adhered to the panel.

Muse #182 + Seize the Birthday and Muse Christmas Visions #61

I had some unexpected free time today and spent a good part of it playing with inks and dies and watercolors and stamps, etc. This first card is the result of painting Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks on a watercolor paper panel inspired by Anita's card for Muse #182.

The panel is cut with a Memory Box Ringlets die and the interlocking circles reminded me of blowing bubbles with the kids when they were younger. This card is kept clean and simple with a PTI sentiment.

This next card is inspired by Kimberly's beautiful color palette and wreath for Muse Christmas Visions #61

This really is one of those funny cards that started in a very different place and somehow I ended up with a gray & white wreath by layering 3 cuts of a MFT wreath die.

Frosted dot berries brought in the aqua blue and a Tim Holtz red bow finished off the wreath. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Deck the Halls stamp set.

I was cleaning up my desk and decided to make a second Muse card using the leftover watercolored pieces from the Ringlet die cut. To corral them, a second die cut was made from white cardstock and adhered to a white panel.

After the watercolor pieces are set in place and the panel adhered to an aqua card base, the sentiment panel is wrapped around the bottom left corner.

This card is also being linked to Seize the Birthday! in the Anything Goes category.

CASology Week 214: BEACH

Welcome to Week 214 at CASology!

I've always been a beach lover and have been lucky enough to live a short distance from the ocean for most of my life. One of my favorite things to do is watch surfers, especially when a storm brings in the big waves.

This card started with inking a masked rectangle and die cutting a Memory Box flourish die for a wave. The placement of the wave is determined before the Avery Elle Surf's Up sentiment and surfboard are stamped. The surfer is borrowed from Altenew Figure Effect stamp set and finally the wave adhered in place.

I hope you can see that CAS(E) This Sketch #188 inspired my design. The sketch is flipped, with three of the wave curls at the bottom of the rectangle and the surfboard at the top representing the tabs in the sketch.

Muse Christmas Visions #60 + NBUS #7 + Simon Says Anything Goes

When I saw Guest Designer Kim Makortoff's card for Muse Christmas Visions Challenge #60, I immediately thought of a sweet Lawn Fawn stamp set I picked up when a local scrapbook store closed in the spring. I know this set hasn't been inked up yet which means I also get to enter another card in Darnell's fun challenge to use some of the "never befor used schtuff" hanging around our creative space or, as most of us know it, NBUS#7.

Muse Christmas Visions #60

As you can see, my primary inspiration was the pine cones and multi-colored pine boughs.

The pinecone was stamped first and then masked before the pine boughs added. The ledge was added next and then the sentiment in red.

After the stamped panel was matted with a chocolate panel and added to the chartreuse card base, a little Wink of Stella was swiped over the pinecone.

This card is also being linked to the Wednesday Challenge Blog at Simon Says Stamp where Anything Goes this week.
