CASology Week 29: Game + Simon Says

I am determined to get this card for the CASology Week 29 posted, but it really isn't what I envisioned.

So do you want the hear the saga of this card?

I had the idea mid-week when I was going through my MFT stamp sets and realized the Game Night stamp set had a few chess pieces. Other things were taking my time up, but this card as I planned it should not take more than 20-30 minutes to put together, maybe less, and my goal was to make it this morning.

With one thing and another, it was well after noon before I headed into the office. I cut the 4 one inch squares with my Nestablities, along with the larger red one. I stamped the a king and queen with Versamark on the black squares and covered with white embossing powder. This is where everything fell apart - my heat gun wasn't were is should be (plugged in alongside my desk).

Oh right, I took it with me on a mixed media playdate to a local scrapbook store on Thursday. Checked the bag I had taken with me (yes, it is mostly sitting unpacked in the hall) - no heat gun?! Urgh . . . I left it at the store :(

I tried my hairdryer and it didn't work and really didn't want to heat emboss in our well used toaster oven, so onto Plan B.

The best coverage white ink I have is Brilliance Moonlight, so I used that to stamp the white chess pieces and then Ranger Archival black for the other two images. I used foam squares to mount the pieces on the red square and struggled to get a prefect grid.

As I was applying tape to the red square I realized this larger Nestabilitie cut square with the lovely embossed edge was upside down!

I like the idea of this card, and will try again when I have my heat gun back and a little more patience.

With Anything Goes over at Simon Says Stamp, I am also linking this card up there.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jacquie
