RIC#78 + FMS174 + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says Texture

One of the benefits of reorganizing my stamps and dies into a theme based system is uncovering a few old favorites that have been hiding at the back of the bins. I immediately thought of these Elizabeth Crafts candle dies when I saw the striped top in the Runway Inspired Challenge #78 photo. The sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #174 provided the perfect design and I am also linking this card to Seize the Birthday and the Wednesday Stamp Challenge at Simon Says Stamp to use texture.

A Darice embossing folder provides the diagonal lines on the red panel and the sentiment is from an older PTI set, Birthday Bash.

A little Wink of Stella provides a touch of glitter to the candle flames.

MIM #201: Cover Plate Stencils & Embossing Paste & CASology #134: Monochrome

I've been playing around with the Make It Monday #201: Cover Plate Stencils & Embossing Paste on and off this week and finally have a card to share. You can check out Laurie Willison's video tutorial here.

The Twist Cover Plate is used to make a stencil and the Viva Pearl Modeling Creme is spread over the panel, starting in the bottom right corner.

A few Turning a New Leaf dies are layered over the embossed corner and a sentiment tag tied to them with Baker's twine.

This card is also being entered in the CASology Week 134: Monochrome challenge.

ETA I am also linking this card to the Wednesday Stamp Challenge at Simon Says Stamp to use texture.

Muse #104 + Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Day 8

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you are doing something special with loved ones today. We are repeating our steak & lobster family dinner. The first time I bought lobster for Valentine's Day I wasn't sure if the kids would like it and was sort of looking forward to leftover lobster for lunch the next day. My dear son inhaled his whole tail, took his plate and headed to the kitchen looking for more. He has since learned to take his time and savour each little piece drenched in garlic butter.

Before I start cooking, I thought I'd better quickly post these two cards as the deadlines are rapidly approaching. This first one is for another Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary challenge Day 8: Blue Ombre Challenge.

This second card is inspired by Michele Ferguson's card for Muse Challenge #104.

I added a little color to my embossing paste and used a stencil to apply it to the panel. The neutral palette, chevron's and "hello" sentiment are all elements from Michele's card.

Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversay + CASology #133: Love & Fusion: Orange, Teal & Brown

I have a couple more cards to share for the Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Challenges. The first one is the Day 7 Heavy Metal Challenge and is paired with the CASology Week 133: Love challenge.

The words from Wet Paint and Wet Paint II are die cut from gold shimmer cardstock,  with the first couple of letters from the "today" die cut snipped off to get the sentiment I wanted.

Keeping it clean and simple, the edges of the sentiment panel were swiped with Versamark ink and then heat embossed with a gold glitter embossing powder. A piece of gold thread is tied in a bow before the panel is popped up on the card base.

For the PTI Day 4: Build a Bouquet Challenge, the Larger than Life stamp set and dies are paired with the Fusion: Orange, Teal and Brown challenge. I took inspiration from the colors, the flowers in the photo and followed the sketch for the card design.

This isn't a color scheme I usually work with, but as soon as I saw it, I thought of this pretty ribbon I'd picked up at a local scrapbook store last month. Three of the stamps were inked with Distress Ink markers and stamped on die cuts and two of the images in the set die cut from brown cardstock. The bouquet is formed and tied together with a small piece of the ribbon.

A strip of ribbon takes the place of the horizontal panel and the bouquet is laid over this on a diagonal line to mimic the sketch. The sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly stamp set.

MFT Sketch #215 + Merry Monday #145: Candy Canes

I have a card to share that combines this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #215 with Merry Monday #145: Candy Canes.

As you can see, I flipped the sketch and embossed the red card base with a diagonal striped embossing folder. A candy cane wreath is made with the MFT winter wreath die and frames the circle cutout allowing the embossed stripes to peek through.

The sentiment from an older MFT stamp set, Inspired by Christmas, is stamped and heat embossed on    a die-namics sentiment strip.

These little candy canes were picked up at Crate & Barrel during their after Christmas sale a year ago, but I couldn't find them when I was making cards this past December. I've been doing a little reorganizing of the office and was happy to uncover the package.

Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Challenge Day 5

I have a quick & simple card to share today. The party continues over at Papertrey Ink where they are celebrating their 8th Anniversary with fun challenges and great prizes. The Day 5 challenge is to use a stamp set that has not seen ink yet, so I pulled out my Zappy Birthday stamps and dies.

As I said, this one was quick and simple :)

Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary Challenge

Today I'm sharing a card based on the Day 2 Challenge from the Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary celebration. This time we were to look at Designer Maile Belles for inspiration. Her split panel cards are so eye catching, and I loved this twist where only part of the card front was cut off around a stamped image.

Maile's card

The two smaller feathers from Feathery Finery were stamped with Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks before a 1/2 inch vertical strip was cut from the panel. A sentiment from Wet Paint III is stamped and the panel is popped up with foam adhesive over a Tropical Teal embossed card base.

Sequins add the finishing touch.

Merry Monday #144: Bows & PTI 8th Anniversay + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says

A landscaping project and some great weather has distracted me from making cards, but when darkness fell I headed into the office for a quick papercrafting fix. This first card is for Merry Monday Challenge #144: Bows.

I pulled out my favorite May Arts red chevron ribbon and tied a big, fat bow around an embossed panel.

A simple red tag hangs from the bow and provides a spot for the sentiment.

Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 8th Anniversary this month with multiple challenges and prizes. The first challenge is to take one of the Color Recipes and Sketch Recipes to create a card.

A Raspberry Fizz reinker tinted the embossing paste used to create a line of confetti down one side of the kraft card base. While the paste was drying, a circle was cut out of the Tag Sale #5 Die and a New Leaf banner die cut.

The Wet Paint happy die is cut from Hawaiian Shores cardstock a couple of times and stacked on the tag and birthday is heat embossed on the banner to finish the sentiment. The banner is woven through the tag and wrapped wround the edge of the card front.

The harvest gold color is brought in with the Baker's Twine.

This card is also being linked to the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where Simon Says All Things Bright & Beautiful this week.

Curtain Call: Kissing Booth + Simon Says Anything Goes + Paper Crafter's Library Woodgrain Wonders

One look at the new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Kissing Booth and I was pulling out my MFT Chevron Cover Up die.

In addition to the chevron from the photo, the red wood slats on the booth and the banner are represented on my card with the embossed red panel and Savvy Thank You banner die.

The banner is anchored with a couple of Avery Elle die cut bows.

I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog where Anything Goes this week.
