Muse #124 + CTS #132 + Happy Little Stampers July Sketch

I have another card to share today. Once again I am combining a few challenges that all influenced my design.

I had the sweet daisies and beautiful inked background from Ardyth's card for Muse #124 in my head when I saw the sketch for CAS(E) This Sketch! #132. In the back of my mind I knew I'd seen a tree sketch somewhere recently and finally tracked it back to the Happy Little Stampers Sketch Challenge for July.

I have a huge love for tree dies and recently acquired the Memory Box Small Alder Tree. The card front was masked off to provide a tall & thin inked panel that would just fit the die cut and stamped sentiment. Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks provide a more muted background color than what Ardyth gave us in her happy Muse card.

I'm pretty sure this is my first time linked up to a Happy Little Stampers Challenge, but know it will not be the last.

CASology 155: Cupcake + Addicted to CAS #68: Chevron + Seize the Birthday + Simon Says Shape

What better way to spend a rainy, thundery day than making cards? We had a rare, all day long summer storm and I didn't even venture outside today.

This cupcake shaped card was inspired by CASology #155: Cupcake, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog challenge to make a shaped card, Addicted to CAS #67 Chevron and Seize the Birthday Anything Goes.

The largest Reverse Wonky Rectangle die is used to cut the cupcake card base. The chevron patterned paper mimics a cupcake wrapper and the MFT stamp is masked and stamped, then heat embossed to create the sentiment. A touch of gold Wink of Stella provides the candle flame.

A large cloud die is perfect for frosting the cupcake and enamel dot sprinkles are scattered on top.

MCV10 + ATSM153 & CTS131 + Virginia's View #16

I have a couple of cards to share today.  The family was driving somewhere on Sunday, talking about plans for the week, and my son said he'd been invited to the zoo with his friend and the friend's grandmother. That prompted me to ask about the grandfather, who I knew was in poor health. There was a moment of silence before my son said "he died". Ack, do not rely on a 16 year old boy to keep you informed. The poor kid had to listen to his dad & I for 10 miles let him know that is the kind of information he needs to pass on to us. I phoned to offer our condolences, but still wanted to send a card.

I was already planning to pair the PTI Graceful Greetings with my Hero Arts butterfly stamps to make a card based on the CAS(E) this Sketch #131, so this card came together very quickly. It is also being entered in Virginia's View Challenge #16 100% Stamped.

My second card is inspired by Chriss Blagrave's card for Muse: Christmas Visions #10 and the Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #153 Holiday.

GRAB OUR BADGE!

I love the colors and textures in Chriss's card and used an embossing folder to create a knit striped panel. The sentiment is made by combining a SSS die with a PTI stamp and a few sequins add a bit of shine.

A white and red die cut are layered for more stability and the white is trimmed off where the die cut is adhered to the green part of the panel.

Muse #123

I have been mulling over Joan Bardee's first card as a Muse Designer all week and the lightbulb went off in my head last night.

This NBUS Memory Box Olive Branch die cut replaces the cherry, the red becomes purple and an impression plate provides the grid pattern on the panel.  It is easy to see how Joan's design inspired my card and there is still a little bit of time for you to play along with Muse #123.

A WPlus9 sentiment is selectively stamped and heat embossed on a banner that is wrapped around the grid embossed panel. A thin foam adhesive gives it a bit of a lift.

I'm looking forward to more inspiration from Joan at the Muse!

CASology: Repeat + CQC#298 + Curtain Call: Celebrate + Seize the Birthday

I had a meeting in San Diego yesterday which put me close enough to Paper Tales to make a little detour and stop to shop before heading back up to the north end of the county. I was thrilled to find this Neat & Tangled Box die and have been playing with it since getting home.

This card is inspired by a few challenges. The colors came from Colour Q Challenge #298, the balloons escaping from the box inspired by the Curtain Call: Celebrate challenge photo image, the multiple balloons are the repeating image for CASology Week 154: Repeat and because it is a birthday card, the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes is also being linked.

I love the dimension created with this box die. A little glitter tulle is loosely stuffed into the box first before adding the light and dark purple balloons.

A few layers of the Tim Holtz celebrate die provide the sentiment.

Happy 4th of July!

I have a quick and easy card to share today. As soon as I saw this new Papertrey Ink Cover Plate Waves die I knew I would use it to make a few cards for the 4th of July. A belated Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian family and friends and Happy 4th of July to everyone celebrating today in the USA!

The red waves/stripes are cut from cardstock and a WPlus9 star border stamp is heat embossed and inked to create the stars.

We are heading off to the beach for a while and crossing our fingers it is not too crowded!
